I am guilty of it only mentally usually. I don't usually voice my opinions unless they are asked for.

The best SL in my opinion is Bravo. I would vote Commander, but he keeps me laughing so hard I die too much. Get some.

If this was a crime, I'd of been put to death a long, long, time ago. I always voice my opinion, saying things, "Lets flank 'em," or "We should split into fireteams."

However, my favorite one backseat order is, "WE NEED TO DEFEND!" I almost always say this. As soon as you cap a flag, most squad leaders instantly want to move out to the next flag when there is no one around to defend. It pisses me off because they almost nover listen to me. We cap it, start running to the next flag, and as soon as we get there the flag we just left goes neutral.

It pisses me off so much, because I will tell them exactly how it is going to go down, and they almost always say omething along the lines of, "Nah, we'll be fine."

I backseat SL because second opinions, advice, and how-would-you-do-it's are something that can be valuable when in a heated battle. Its nice to have more that on point of view on an issue.

I do this alot because I'm not a consistent talker/communicator and I think that's a quality a great SL needs. I am however pretty good with strategy and I chime in whenever I can. It usually works out for the best as the SL usually agrees with what I'm saying and our squad is always successful :9

I'm with McDre; If this was a criminal offense, I'd be serving consecutive life terms.

Oh, and ditto on the defense bit, too. Absolutely drives me bonkers to see people running away from a newly-capped Village on Qinling.

If someone ever wants to learn how to be a better Squad Leader; that is one of the best ways you can help them. You let them make the calls, they consult you if they want your thoughts/ideas or there is an understanding that when you see something they don't, you give the information.

Understand this though, a Squad Leader is only as good as the Squad Members with him/her. While their thoughts maybe heard, don't get all offensive if he/she doesn't do what you suggest. They might have knowledge from their commander; that they can't take the time to tell you about, they just need to move. Because when you sit still too long where the enemy will be looking for you, you will be spotted or dead.

If when/this happens do your best to support their decisions anyways. It's amazing how if that is done, and they are proven wrong, then next time they will think about your suggestion a little more. Which leads to a better cohesive unit. TRUST goes both ways within a squad.

I know guys don't always agree with my calls, but they also realize I have access to information I can't always share with them. I'm very strategic and usually I'm about two steps ahead of the commander, but there comes a time when you can't press the way you want.

When the above statement happens, keep this idea in mind when playing PR; 'Aggressor Makes The Rules'-Otherwise you are always responding to what the other team forces you into. Which takes alot of your tactical maneuvers and eliminates them, making them useless. This is the number one reason, it's imperative for Squad Leaders to know what the other Squads are doing.

It takes Great Vision to see things before they happen and account for what needs to change on the fly.

I believe that those who have squaded with me in the past have learned this rule and they torture me with it whenever they are on the opposing team.

I can name them for you, because they cause me nightmares on maps that I've shown them tactics I like to implement.

They are great learners, they take what I show them and use it against me or they modify it and make it HELL on me; CivilWars, Saltspring, IraVedic0, Asianator365, Elkhartadam, Nuckle, BlueKahn, W4JChosen, Bryn0202, JBMC.

And to each one of these Som'Bitches I owe them all thanks; because they make me work harder to come up with more effective ways to lead, attack, and defend.

BTW CivilWars; thanks for the mention man.

    Re: BACK SEAT SQUAD LEADER!!!!!!

Being mentioned among such a group by Bravo flatters me, but I have to compliment Bravo in that he passes on ALL his knowledge (often to his detriment later on) to his teammates and helps everyone improve in strategy and general play - thanks for that Bravo.

On the "backseat squad leader", when I squad lead, I welcome input from the squad and (like to think) I am not to proud to reconsider my strategy for a better strategy. However, ultimately it is the SL decision and once it is made, the squad should follow - for better or for worse. There is nothing worse than someone who 2nd guesss the SL and then goes of by himself, or one or two squad mates, and does his own thing.

For those who strategise but don't squad lead because they don't talk that much, or whatever reason, step up and SL - you don't have to give a running commentary as long as you communicate enough to make your orders clear.

AHAHAHAH........ I still remember those brutal days on that map Street, sitting atop the Mosque mowing everything thing down with the marksmen kit. And having peeps accuse me of cheating since they were being shot through smoke

Then a few weeks later, you, salt, & Ira made me pay dearly for what I showed ya'll. That was when I first learned how that if I show you guys something you are not shy about using it against me. :8 :4

All of yall have made leaps and bounds. I am proud of everyone of you. Yall have really advanced teamplay to the next level.

As for the question, BACK SEAT SQUAD LEADER!!!!!! ? ? ?

It is in my blood.... I have to put a directional marker on movement or directly on the head of the emeny, so the rest of the squad knows what to shoot at or look towards... If that is happening, I can function and really like to see a Good SL work. It is satisfying.
