Titan or Conquest?
It's simple: Which game mode do you prefer, Titan or (any form of) Conquest?
For me, I think I prefer Conquest for the most part, particularly infantry-focused Conquest maps like Camp Gibraltar and Cerbere Landing. I can enjoy vehicle-heavy maps like Highway Tampa, but since I'm currently focused on Assault and Support (having only RDX for Recon and no unlocks at all for Engineer), I tend to dislike those maps since Assault can basically do nothing but roll over and die against vehicles, and Support is limited to EMP nade spam and a little RDX shotgunning on the side.
I do find Titan fun when the server's only about half full, but when we're rocking a full server, my framerate inside a Titan drags down to like 5 or 10 fps, which makes it hard as hell to do much of anything except drop ammo crates and hide.
As far as commanding goes, I'd love Titan if I could use orbital. I like the flow of Titan more than the flow of Conquest, but lacking orbital means I can't do a whole lot to help my team beyond spotting for them and the occasional EMP strike.

Re: Titan or Conquest?
I actually prefer Assault Lines to either, as I love the attack/defend dynamic without the painful burning itch associated with losing your main 30 seconds into the match (plus the maps aren't half-bad, Remagen excepted).
But of those two, Conquest. No laggy Titan hanging about like a bad memory, no insta-lose halfway through having a decent round, aforementioned orbital (although not having to worry about being orbi'd every minute or so has its merits).
Titan is good for epic point totals, but we're not here to play 2142 for the points, are we?
No no, teamwork first. And Conquest is best for teamwork.

Assault Lines is a variation of Conquest.
And I think the default engineer weapons are pretty poor. They don't do as much damage as the pilum, take just as long to reload, and the ability to guide them is marginal at best - you still need to have dead-on aim like with the pilum.

I've gotta say Titan. Nets you a whole lot of points, but opens up HUGE tactical possibilities. Commanding a titan map is hard, coordinating squads across 5 silos on a large map plus your own titan AND the enemy's, it's pretty tough. Squads on the ground also have to make tactically sound decisions, or else a defending squad will be able to shut them down. Titan mode seems to just breed teamplay, and conquest usually leads to the "I do what I want and you make me follow my team" players. Not saying that there isn't teamplay in conquest however: a well coordinated squad in Conquest can take the back bases of Camp Gibraltar, and completely obliterate the PAC in just a matter of minutes.
By the way, you get major points in titan mode USUALLY due to teamwork points, showing that you care about teamplay."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."
