I think I should just start a poll asking "Which map do you want to complain about next?" and make that the start map.
Early and late, any map is hard to play. We are never going to start with a conquest map. The reason titan and Verdun are used is to give people vehicles to practice with while they are waiting to get started. That may be the only chance some people get/use to try to fly gunships is when the pressure is off. Minsk pre-start and Sidi prestart is where I found a long time ago that I could put my tank on an incline to knock out titan guns.
Gibraltar just doesn't offer anything but a walker and an FAV. For the multiple hours we are waiting for people to show up, that just isn't enough. Get your buddy list populated, let people see where you're playing, get them here. More people make that map shorter by far.
Verdun is going to stay up as the start map for awhile.

I agree, lag. Start maps have to be chosen based on the priming ability. Big maps, with air vehicles, mechs, tanks, jeeps, walkers, and shit to do give those that are priming something fun to occupy their wasted gaming time priming the server.
Start with an infantry map, and all you have is walking around, and lameness.
