Which is better Xfire or Ventrilo and why?

I have heard some of you mention that you use Ventrilo and prefer it over Xfire.
Why?
What makes it better?
Or it is Xfire that you like?
Are there more options on one and not the other?
Better sound quality?

Or do you have use something else? If so what is it and where can we check it out?

I use X for chat and SS. I use Vent for clan VoIP. I feel Vent is better because it is hosted on a erver, whereas X uses one of the parties computers as the host, causing lag.

Vent is purely for communication. X-Fire is more of a multi task, or multi gaming platform that lets you do a number of things.

I like vent because there is always the possibility that "Lindsay" may harrass me.

Xfire is better for chat ingame, cause vent is either alt+tab or just voice, which is very inconvenient in things like ANY GAME TTP HOSTS.

If you are just chatting with one friend X is fine. If you have your whole crew on, and you are trying to game as well, use vent or TS.

I think the more important question is why have BOTH?

I personally already use X-fire and dread the thought of having to use two software that basically do the same thing... and maybe VENT is better, but now I've got to ask all of my friends to move to VENT, just so I can utilize my PC efficiently and maintain my minimalist attitude.

I like COKA-COLA, not PEPSI. Why would I have Pepsi in my house, If I don't like it?

Thanks for addressing this topic Dusty, I'm sure you'll get a variety of interesting opinions; I'm almost certain of it infact.
