    Re: other maps

The SF maps require the SF client which requires a flush and reload of the entire game engine. TTP was hosting an SF server for awhile but it was eating up too many server resources and dissappeared.

Vehicles for Left 4 Dead 3?

Might be interesting to run through zombies and have some that can actually catch up putting you into a high speed chase. Also I would love to hang a Tank or Jockey on my plane and do this.

Yes.. i want vehicles.. more importantly i want much bigger maps to accomodate for the Vehicles.

they can Even be like dead rising vehicles.. Destroyed after so much use.

Left 4 Dead 3 needs to big and innovative, i won't buy it if it only feels like DLC >.>

Vehicles would utterly ruin Left 4 Dead. Why bother playing it if you can easily hop in a big truck and render all manner of SI harmless?

I knew Mr. gosteelers would be in this topic talking about game balance any time soon... and sure enough, there he is.

I kid, I kid. Vehicles seem uninteresting. If they were to be featured, they should only be used for brief parts of the story, and possibly not in competitive modes at all.

Actually i hope the "campaign stories" arnt as Linear and 1x through and you know exactly what to do anymore..

But anyway to solve cars what do you need? Zombie capable of tearing cars apart.. Please keep in mind we want the maps to be MUCH BIGGER to accomodate for the vehicles..

But Yeah i'd assume there'd be Car taking out infected.. Maybe something that leaps on the hood rips through it and destroys the moter..
Course you know a tank would just catch it like a toy and chunk it half way acrossed the map.

NOTHING "ruins" Left 4 Dead, it may "ruin" YOUR vision of it.. But ultimately it depends on where the developers want to go with it.

I for one would vote for big MASSIVE maps with useable vehicles..
you can either use them, or slowly slug through the map.
Much like adrenaline shots @ full health.

I mean imagine if a Tank came out and you were limping you'd be all shiiii-- then you spot a construction device, you limp over to it hop in and slam the Tank far away with a wrecking ball to give you enough time to grab some medicine and be up and ready to fight him. A wrecking ball would be slow and not as effective as taking out hordes when they can jump in on you while you're sitting around but it can buy you some time and put some interesting advantages for the survivors.

And as far as cars go a Tank would destroy it. But imagine if you drove one right at a Tank, jump right out and give him a nasty crash. Could ignite and hurt him. As for driving a real tank I think that would be a bit too powerful overall and there might be one for a crescendo event at the end of a campaign in which you use to fight through throngs of zombies far enough to get into the reinforced building in which you will make your last stand.

There could be uncommons (mutated in the legs, maybe that even have four legs a mish mash of two zombies put together or something) that run as fast as the car goes, and a special infected that is designed to chase and keep up against drivers. Heck a Tank or Charger could be used as road blocks that will severely damage or stop the car and throw the survivors out, Smokers that will test your reflexes and accuracy by grabbing a survivor meaning instant death for him, Spitter goo can now make the car go off balance slipping and sliding, accidently running across a Boomer = very bad.

Well before we go into Special Infected, lets review about the ones we have now. A tank can send cars flying but those cars are doing absolutely nothing; A car going 60MPH could easily kill the tank although it would suffer serious damage. But that's if you are driving a typical car, if you are driving something bulkier like a Military Humvee or a heavy truck, the tank couldn't do jack squat. if levels are going to be very wide and open, then it should be mind numbingly easy to dodge them. As for the other SI, there is no hope; the Smoker's tongue could never catch up or hold a moving car, the boomer can only blot out the windshield, and spitters would be even more useless. The only SI that could be the slightest bit useful are chargers and hunters, and even so they can't do much. On the other end, playing as the SI would be mundane and boring, If I'm a tank or a charger, I don't want to sit on my ass so the car would hit and stop then watch the other infected actually attack, I want to join in on the fun.

So then we have new commons and SI to combat vehicles, but they don't sound like they belong in the L4D universe at all. The merged CI would look utterly ridiculous, also how do the 4 legs possibly keep up with a car? And what would they do? Your idea of the SI is ruled out because right now it's just a ghost, no real specifics given on what it actually is and how it can keep up with a car.

Anybody can tell that adding something as one sided and big as vehicles to L4D would throw it off of what the game actually is. The series is just a simple arcade zombie shooter; that's why people are enjoying it thus far, it's still the same game but with a few new maps, weapons, and zombies. The sequel is relatively successful because it doesn't change a lot in the bigger picture. Even so, some people frown at L4D2 and prefer to stick to the first game, if L4D3 is going to have what you suggest, even more people are going to criticize it and outright refuse to buy it. Now tell me, is that just my vision?

My point is, the concept of L4D is "less is more", add anything too big to the mix and it's popularity is going to take a nosedive. It's been going strong with the system it has already, so why does it have to include something completely game changing?
