G3 is FUBAR

I'm wondering why the G3 is such a bad weapon anymore. First of all the recoil is like your shoulder firing a minigun. Second for all that recoil it is horribly inaccurate I really hope they fix this piece of shit weapon so it has a chance against M16. Also G3 has gotten me killed to many times I [size=14pt]HATE the MECs because of their shit ass Standard Issue rifle. :8

The G3 does have the most powerful cartridge for a standard rifle in the game. It has a 7.62 x51mm round, which; to put into perspective, is the same cartridge we use linked in the US Marines M240G machine gun.

It should always have the most recoil, but it should also be the most deadly at farther ranges.

I know quite a few folks that do not like it and instead use the MP5 from the crewman kit. I like the squadleaders option of the pistol for fighting in areas like the Kashan Bunkers.

I dont think they should change the G3, but with the addition of a lot of secondary weapons, only the riflemen are really feeling it in close combat.

What I like is the heavy assault HK squad machine gun.

Played the entire match with it and holy moly does it rock ass. I'm new to PR, in an up close and personal situation I can't imagine anything better.

Walk slow with the iron sights up, and hold that trigger down - I'd take a fight with an officer's pistol any day.

It is supposed to. The sniper rifles in game (except the Mosin Nagant) all have very specialized stocks that will direct the recoil a bit better into the snipers body. Add to the fact that almost all the sniper rifles are single shot and you wont notice it as much as a battle rifle.

I have heard stories from Army vets that got to try out the G3 in Germany back when they still used it where the US soldiers were amazed at the amount of recoil the G3 had and the Bundeswehr troops just laughed. It is a powerful battle rifle, and is definitely not an M16.

In the G3's defense, it gets the 7.62x51 cartridge, which in PR gives you a 50 damage shot all the way out to 400m, which is enormous. By contrast, the M16A4 uses a 5.56x45 NATO round that only does 36 damage up to 200m. (This according to the weapon files in PR)

The G3 does have sniper-rifle-like recoil, and unlike the actual sniper rifles doesn't get a bonus to recoil when zoomed. You have to trade the enormous damage potential for difficulties maintaining a shot. The other great advantage of the G3 is that the 'A4 has the same deviation stats, so it must technically make more shots and be less accurate because of them than the G3 to kill. (The 'A4 has about 2/5ths of the barrrel climb of the G3 and relatively the same left/right movement)

The key then is to try and not engage 'A4 users at medium ranges or while both are exposed. Use the range advantage and the damage potential (and possibly also group fire on a single target to mitigate having to reposition after the shot) and the terrain to outwit them. Make sure your shots count.

Okay I know the G3 has a big bullet and all, it doesn't matter if I can't hit the damn target.

I'm a accomplished shooter too so I don't suck.Your opinion the G3 is not bad and I'm fine with that.By the way i don't use G3, i get marksman that doesn't miss.

You just gotta make the first shot count. Point, call to teammates, and shoot. Wait for the recoil to drag you back to your original aim, then again, and again, and again. Fast is slow, slow is fast.
