Re: Map Change Proposal for Conquest
I think that it should be Two city maps in front, and then from there, rotate the types. And I dont see that the server crashs THAT much... It does crash though, but i think that that is the best idea
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Re: Map Change Proposal for Conquest
no matter what map is the start map or the few ones there after -- they will get old due to crashes.....always has..
the plan, at least when the server was mixed mode, was that at least monthly the maps were rotated
to see the end cycle maps and to beat the doldrums of playing the first few maps over and over and over and over
the bottom 3 cycled to the top and everything else shift down
I am sure the high's will be doing that as well for both the titan and conquest server
now perhaps there needs to be, as thrown about here, a initial reordering of the list
In any case just my 2cents...carry on :P

The point has certainly been acknowledged a number of times that whatever we do now, it won't last, and things will have to change again soon down the road unless things start to look up. So we understand that part. The changing of the rotation is a constant. I think the idea I was trying to present was that A) it could really use a change right now, today, and B) a re-thinking of the order of the rotation to try and get a little spark going, and avoid some other issues already discussed.
All I'm really doing is hoping and praying we try something a little different to alleviate the boredom and keep people fresh and interested. It kills me to hear people on Gibraltar say they are gone after the map is done because of Verdun coming up again.
It's not like I can stand to go play anywhere else. I've tried it, and I hate it. I'd rather not play at all. So my fingers are crossed that some of this will prove to be a positive thing, and not just a waste of the admins time.
I also know that many people are resistant to any idea of change at all, and I just hope that people will be willing to look at it a different way, even if that way is a completely different idea than what was talked about here.

Re: Map Change Proposal for Conquest
I don't agree with messing with the map order. Right now it is actually a pretty well thought out mix of city/assult/NS/mixed. Being on the west coast, I try and keep the server going later in the evening and not sure how moving all the like minded maps to one end or the other is helpful in anyway.
I am all for a rotation, as Frau said, as admins it was discussed to mix this up once a month anyway.
As for people's play time. Sorry, but that doesn't really have anything to do with this. It would be more interesting to see people's priming time. People that have stuck through the changes of 1.4 and then the crashes that surrounded us after that and then changing up the server to try new things...
To say that we are afraid of change is a bit drastic. The problems on the server are notcied. But show me another server the carries more than 2 maps..that right, 2...that hasn't been having all the same issues that we have had.
As far as writing scripts that interact with BF2142 to change the map every so many crashed, well, if you know how to do that, then you probably know how to write an admin program that actually works with 2142 instead of a half asses program that is completely unsupported.
Honestly, the server crashing has been down quite a bit, I would even say a lot than it has been in the recent months. The EA disconnects and all, now that is a different problem.
