    Insubordination at Kashan

    Commander's Report:

    Offending Units:
    Blix05 and Sgt. Pyser

    Battle: Kashan

    Charge: Insubordination

    Comments:

Honestly, this has to be the most shameful thing I've encountered on TTP in a long time. Now, I haven't jumped into the commanders seat in awhile, but tonight on Kashan rather than waiting around for a tank I figured 'what the fuck?' and applied. Units were all over the place, so I began issuing orders and getting my head around the situation. It was disorganized to begin with, but I figured that with a little luck (and our 20 ticket lead) I could do good things. Squad 1 (lead by JBMC2010) headed to the bunker complex and the team captured both north and south relatively uneventfully. I ordered squad 5, who were mounted in a helicopter to attack south village, which they did with great glee. Their squad leader informed me that he wasn't leaving the village until they captured it. He proceeded to report an enemy bunker and some infantry as they attacked. The rest of the team paddled about for the most part, nobody requested build orders, I informed them area attack was up and nobody called it in, etc. etc. However, I focused most on just moving units around since Kashan doesn't really require you to build anything in order to win. It's possible to just out maneuver the enemy (and that's usually how I like to do it.)

With both of the full squads engaged, I busied myself with organizing the rest of the forces. Squad 1 also had some elements that were out of position and I told squad 5 (Blix) that the move orders I was giving him were for his helicopter (he had a blackhawk in his squad) to pick up and transport units. He complied with the first few and then began to get angry, clearly with playing air traffic controller. He said things like 'tell them to get their own ride' and 'We need that helicopter overhead' etc. etc.

Then, while he and his 4 infantry were unsuccessfully assaulting south village, south bunker was taken by the enemy. Squad 1 began assaulting south bunker and managed to get within the flag radius. Squadleader 1 (JBMC2010) informed me that enemy infantry were closing in on the -NORTH- bunker. At that point I decided that win or lose at south village, it was only a matter of time before the strategically important bunker complex fell. I ordered 5 to mount up in his chopper and proceed immediately to north. I also gave him a move order on the map. He refused the order. I asked twice more and got no response. I asked a fourth time using the 'v' key (which all other squadleaders heard) at which point he said via VOIP 'That's a fuckin' stupid order commander, why would I move my guys just to get them killed somewhere else when we have this almost neutralized?' and then he said 'Besides, we already own it. You're ordering me to go somewhere we already own!' Immediately following that statement, north was neutralized by the enemy and I used the 'rebuke squad' with flawless timing. At this point I brought it to JBMC2010's attention (all the while, Blix was railing at me angrily over VOIP.) I will admit that I did tell him to go fuck himself, but only because of the abrasive and belligerent manner with which he was conducting himself. Anyhow, I'm pretty sure there's not a rule against cussin' or I'd have been banned long before now. Blix was kicked from the server for failing to follow orders. His squad disbanded and formed a new squad named Blix. He returned to the server and they gave him the SL position back, and he immediately began railing at me again. I would have muted him, but I have no idea how to, since I've never had to do it before. Some of this spilled over into the general chat as JBMC2010 began to explain the 'follow your damn orders' policy. However, by this point in time the fight had fallen apart, the critical moment of action was past and we were losing.

Our entire team was wiped out of the bunker complex and I got killed trying to build a firebase near north bunker. Everybody spawned back at main and jumped in whatever they could. Squad 7 took the armour and everybody else manned trucks/apcs and AA. It was basically a major rush out of the main, and I decided that it was time to use my classic 'consolidate, defend, controlled advance' technique (as previously displayed in my Al Kufrah post.) I ordered everybody to consolidate at north village, and told squadleader 7 (Pyser) to situate his armour in the hills above the village, (between the US main and the village) and have his engineer/squad truck go in to the village so that one of the many, many squad leaders there could request a build order. He accepted my move order on the map, but continued towards US outpost. I told him 6 separate times that he was out of position but he declined to answer via VOIP. I also broadcasted this over the general command channel and he declined to answer. He'd only press 'page up' to acknowledge that he'd heard me but keep right on trucking in the opposite direction. It was pretty clear that he was just going for base rape, which is fine, but was in complete contravention of orders. He managed to lose both assets and then while I was berating him for losing the armour pieces, his engineer drove out of the village and into the hills, stranding the truck and making defending at north village impossible.

All this occured while Blix and JBMC2010 were arguing about orders on general chat, and I decided that for all intents and purposes, the round was a catastrophic loss due to the arrogant inability of squeaky voiced children to let someone control the bigger picture and that several hours of my evening (free time being somewhat lacking) had been wasted trying to earn a victory for people who were unwilling to respond or felt their 'big picture' was big enough.

It's honestly tough as a commander because everybody thinks they know how to play... but squad leaders don't always have all of the information necessary to make a call and there's never a situation where a commander's direct order should be disregarded because you think it's 'stupid'. You can call it stupid all you want, but we lost the point, the subsequent point, got screwed over on the rebound and probably (didn't stick around) lost the match. So, Blix, grats on being a loser discontent with keeping it to himself. I guess lame is contagious.

As to Pyser, I think he was just egging the situation on, but the blatant disregard for orders couldn't go unmentioned here.

Oh, and right before I resigned, some guy named 'dadisbad' was firing his rifle right beside my head, I would assume in the hopes of provoking some sort of bannable reaction. Frig. That's all.

Stupid night. Stupid people. I'm going to have a cigarette and will probably be back around playing sunday some time.

Sounds like a very frustrating battle.... We should have removed blix from the server sounds to me like... However we will for sure keep an eye on him. Thus another reason we expect our Admins to be SL and Commanders.

We understand there are always two sides to every story and your complaint has been noted. Most all the time, we have a Great and Awesome experience with the players that play in our server, but as you know, there is always one in the bunch somewhere that needs some adjusting.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday.

In Blix's defense, I have played in his squad before. He is a real great SL normally. JBMC2010 and I were playing with him last night and it was fantastic. Maybe he just had an off night.

I did squad with him last night but his performance on the server today has erased any good will he may have had.

We have our eye on 4 very disrepectful, disruptive, and insubordinate players from that battle. So rest assure, sometimes it takes situations on the battlefield, before a disruptive player shows their true colors and then they get attention of an Admin, which is a good thing for the guys that are working with the team and trying their best to have a great gaming experience without Lonewolf, renegade, nonteamplaying chumps.

Uggh, I feel your pain bro. That sorta thing has happened to me at least twice as being commander. Notice i have not commanded lately... It frustrates me to no end. I seem to sign on when all the NOOBS are playing.
