Re: Sqaud Issues
The canned response, where you click on the little radio and the voice over chews out the squad is really hilarious, and quite embarassing, too. Of course, that response usually initiates a mutiny... lol. If you mention to all of the squads (I always talk by pressing 'B') that you are having problems with a squad the other squad leaders are usually very helpful and might support a kickvote, too... that should wake up a SL that isn't following orders. Communications is, in my opinion, the primary asset of a Commander. I am always open to suggestions, and if a squad would just tell me what is going on, why they can't make an objective or if they have a better idea based on their boots on the ground observations, that is fine; but I hate it when they just say right-o and don't respond.
Sometimes I will acknowledge an order but have a hard time getting to the objective, keep getting killed or railroaded, and I certainly understand that issue. But I try to tell my squad leader or Commander that I am having issues, too. Sometimes a SL gets saddled with an unresponsive team that are just squadding to keep from being kicked, too, and players will choose "quiet" SLs that will leave them alone so they can play lone wolf. Not supposed to happen here, but kicking the SL might mean going down the list.
I prefer to see myself in a supportive rather than a leadership position when I Command, if I have really good squads with SLs that communicate, and ask for what they need, UAVs and supplies, etc., I try to keep them informed with a continuous source of intel on troop movements. Every player should have a stake in winning. However, I hate it when a squad decides to hold just one asset and you can't get them to move around.. they just defend that one asset while the other team takes everything else and after losing they smugly rationalize that they were doing their job, everyone else must have been lame. If a team can own all the silos or flags and keep you pinned down in one area it is an effective strategy. Of course every map and population needs special attention, you have to play according to the progression of the game, so no one strategy is correct if it is not flexible, right?
See ya back on the battlefield.
