Re: New BF2 patch?
I stand corrected. If you listen carefully to the guy, he says.. "We will make an announcement on Monday, when battlefield 2 turns 3.... Could he be implying that indeed, this Monday marks Battlefield 2's birthday?
So I checked on it... INDEED! Battlefield 2 hit store shelf's June 23 of 2005... 3 years ago Monday.... I believe this could be true after all...
Anyone else have any other good fairy tales to tell?
Fucking secrets that EA/DICE holds..... They destroy me, make me look like an ass.... Ah fuck I was an ass to begin with.

Re: New BF2 patch?
Well, the patch is coming from DICE, which while a part of EA, has been know to be a little bit more compassionate toward the gaming community [citation needed].
Well, I can think of three reasons they could be releasing this patch from a business point of view.
One is to patch a critical security flaw ala BF1942's final patch. Although it is probably not going to be able to rid the BF2 world of h4x.
Another big reason could be for PR purposes. With a bunch of games released/about to be released that share a common audience as BF2, releasing this patch would assure players that EA/DICE still loves us and that they will show the same dedication to their upcoming products.
It would also steal back some traffic from competing games such as COD4 as former BF2 players check out the new patch. Also, with a new map, they can put BF:BC/BF Heroes/BF3 advertisements everywhere. I mean, the reason everyone quits when Tampa rolls around is because everyone has the sudden urge to go out and buy an Intel C2QExtreme, right?
And the third reason would be that usually after a product release, software companies retain a small group that supports the product as it ages. Releasing a "1.50 FINAL" patch probably allows DICE to free up "Franklin" to work on something new, as well as release any software patches that weren't quite ready for 1.41.
Let's just hope that if this patch does exist, it doesn't break more than it fixes.
