Commanding without a mic are a hindrance
Is it possible to just kick players who command and not use a mic?
The game is so fast paced that using a mic helps and intel is spread quicker across all squad channels.
I'd rather have no commander than have one without a mic and when some commanders lose the game they leave the commander spot for being a complete FAILURE!
It's hard to lead a squad without a commander using a mic to let the SL's know what flags are in danger of getting capped especially the main flags. I have to keep checking my mini map for possible threat to the main flags and it makes it difficult to concentrate on defending or attacking semi-important flags.
If it's possible to add it on the scrolling text that to command requires a mic.

Re: Commanding without a mic are a hindrance
It is not in the rules. If a commander is doing their job, putting up UAV's, spotting enemy targets, dropping arty, dropping supply crates and vehicles and issuing attack, move and defend orders they are doing their job. If they are giving verbal commands or threat positions all the better.
If a commander is not doing the above listed things, then chances are they just suck. Call for an admin. If they get kicked, be prepared to step up and take the slot.
I've had people tell me to STFU before while commanding because I was talking too much. Unfortunately they didn't have the stones to tell me who they were.

Re: Commanding without a mic are a hindrance
I've only commanded a few times, and I can tell you I BARELY use my mic. Mainly just to give "roger thats" and "it's on the way, 2 minutes" in response to requests for artillery, uav, or supply drop.
I'm too busy identifying targets on the battlefield, zooming in and out over flags, checking rooftops/hillsides, and airstrips/armor stations for lonesome enemy choppers/jets/apcs/tanks waiting to be stolen. THEN if I see one of those, I'll tell any squad that I feel should make an attempt to grab it.
That is....back in the day when I was actually on BF2.

Re: Commanding without a mic are a hindrance
You have the sounds of the battlefield bursting your ear, your squad members trying to talk to you....the built in voices to the game and then if you have a commander giving information that is not needed....it's fustrating.
Commanders need to be spotting the enemy out...infantry, helos, tanks, apcs and jets. If the scanner is up it's easy...but guess what...it's also easy with out the scanner.....look at the battlefield....you can see where your army is....just put the cursor over the air and click. Don't need to talk....just need to click.
Oh and for you commanders that quit because your assets are all blown to hell.....your a bunch of pussies with no imagination!
Last night on Mastur City...(4)Manno had no assets and he continued to work the battlefield. He didnt over communicate and my squad worked fevoriously to get to the assets to help him and us. He never quit like so many I have seen.
Commanding is serious buisness.....you attitude needs to reflect that.
By the way....to much talking in the squad is not good either. The only one that needs to really talk is the squad leader and he doesnt even need to do that to be effective. Squad members should be telling where the fire is coming from...or who shot them and where he was....they should be spotting.
Plenty of work for every one to do
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

Re: Commanding without a mic are a hindrance
Having a mic on BF2 is half the fun for me...I couldnīt play without it. Yes there are good SL that donīt use their mic (i.e. enumae) but I need to comm. with my commander or vice versa if Iīm commanding I even tell the SL there is someone behind them or give them directions, mostly to warn them of immediate threats.
So, mics are essential in the BF2.
