Thread: Whats BF 2142 like/?

Hey guys how does the game play in BF 2142 work?? Does it have the same controls as BF2 or differnt??

It has the same controls for the most part.

In my opinion, the game play of 2142 is much superior than BF2. But that's me, and you might hear otherwise from different people.

Some things I like. Gunships are still very powerful, but not stupidly powerful like in BF2. They fixed bunny hopping and dolphin diving issues through working on accuracy while prone and stamina issues. Artillery isn't as powerful. Then they added unlocks.

I mainly play Bf2. Basically Less Air power, Downgraded Sprint till you upgrade, Hit system is reversed. Standing gives you the best accuracy on "Sudden encounters" and Going Prone gives you a Ridiculous amount of "I can't shoot" time. Same with Crouching for the most part. Bunny Hopping is Still very effective unless you "Dolphin Dive".

Some Game reviews of bf2142 argue some classes are overpowered compared to others. But Overall its 20 dollars for the Vanilla and expansion. Seriously for 20 bucks this is a great game. I however don't think its superior to bf2 because it doesn't allow 64 players yet still has insanely large maps. Infantry is a bit more fun, but since you have less air power the replacement stuff for tanks just end up killing you instead. However you stand a better chance against them than a jet.

BF2142 is pretty much BF2 IO for the most part. Not to mention infantry combat is ridiculously easy for any previous BF2 vet. I had never quit a game because it was too easy before... In BF2 there are many vehicles to keep me in line when playing that game, in BF2142, the vehicles are nerfed so bad I can kill anything. Tanks take one hit to kill, same with walkers, at least EA buffed up the TV missile in that game a few patches ago.

As far as overpowered is concerned, the only thing I have a problem with is the Voss. It's the most overpowered, unbalanced weapon in the game. Oh well.

Crouching actually gives you best accuracy on sudden encounters. It tightens the reticule instantly. It is better than going prone which is a good thing. Bunny hopping is not effective because there isn't much stamina to do much hopping, you can't hop without stamina. You are better off sprinting anywhere than hopping.

Vehicles are still very powerful if used properly. Tanks take 4 hits from the front, 2 from the side and 1 from the back. This requires the tanker to actually think about what he's doing and be cautious. Walker have a tiny 1 hit square than you have to be right under them to hit, so if you're smart you won't be 1 hit ko'd. And the 1 hit means that it does something like 96 damage. It makes sure the vehicle goes down but gives the passengers time to escape. This also goes for the TV missiles from gunships so that the tank crew stands a chance of survival.
