    Re: Leader or follower?

    Good topic.

I'm happy to follow if I see that those commanding, SL'ing are doing a good job. I'll follow a good SL up to and through the gates of Hell.

I'll usually step up if I see I can help the team with whatever leadership I can provide. Once I'm SL I'll confidently set objectives and do my damnedest to lead from the front to carry them out. Or as commander lead from...errrr...well be in the rear with the gear

Other times I'll hope in the CC chair or SL spot and just have a blast. I think being a CC is a flip of the coin. Because being commander can be great if every SL follows orders and gives feedback. Then it can be a living hell if no one is listening to you.
What he said, except swap daughter for wife.
Ditto ditto...but add daughter, son and wife, not necessarily in that order though.

    Re: Leader or follower?

SL - I highly enjoy it but there are always those days where I just don't want to it after working. I am a SL who likes to be more directive with commands. Don't just say go here, but I say go here...this way and all that kind of stuff.

SM - Will SM for a SL who gives orders and specifics..not just go to silo 4 but go there from the west...

COM - I hate commanding. I do it, more than I care to...lately at least 2-3 rounds a night when I play. I make people listen to me and if they don't as another squad leader you get to hear me yell at them. When I am on round 3, I am usually a bitch at the first sign of people not listening...it gets old when you jump on to kill people and sit looking at an overhead map of everyone else killing.

    -rant-
I really wish more people who step up and command...I also wish more regs would spread themselves out among the squads so that it is not just 1 squad that 1 crazy...but I am sick of saying that as well. You would think after a 12-18 months of this game people might catch on to that.
    -/rant-

As SL & Com, you better believe people are either listening to me or getting an earful.

Don't forget for those people who say they like command but SLs don't listen. People not following orders is a perfectly good reason to call out for an admin. Do not hide behind that reason to not command.

Depends on my mood, when I get on, how much time I have.

    Re: Leader or follower?

I'd rather be in a squad. Not used to having to multi-task as SL yet, but I think I'm getting better. Been practicing. And I'll step up to command when no one else does, or if some idiot was commander last round and I want to show people that we're not all idiots :P

    For me
    SL
    SM
    Command

I need to be SM more I think I need more practice in fact I know I need more
as a grunt/soldier. I wish more folks would do it.
It would give me more time to be a SM and thus work on my weaknesses.

Angel had a great point. We should try to spread out the regs more.
We should encourage newer players to lead as well and have Patience and teach them.
Then we will all have more fun.
My 222 cents---Hey I'm in the stock market its all I have left ...that and 2142

    Re: Leader or follower?

I always have to think and act independently in my job so having to simply follow orders is a welcome relief.

    Re: Leader or follower?

Maybe its a control issue, but I think I'm most effective as a squad leader.

    2nd choice is commander.

Ok, off to work on a take home test. May the muse fill me with provenance and good inspirations......
