Firing From The Hip

Ok shotguns aside, do you fire from the hip?

When I started playing BF2 I never even dreamt about firing from the hip, as compared to other games (such as Call of Duty 4) I found it very inaccurate to shoot this way. But as I have gotten better at this game I find myself shooting from the hip more and more, and quite often it will save me in a tight situation.

    So what about you?

For those who don't know what the hell I'm talking about, firing from the hip means shooting without using your iron sights or "scoping in".

Close quarters (<10 ft) I always shoot from the hip with the G36 or any small arm. With the support guns forget it lol. I couldn't hit someone standing right in front of me.

You're forgetting the option "sometimes - depends on the situation"

Against our best players here - specifically those who are going to strafe consistently in close combat, I find it's difficult to shoot from the hip with any level of consistency.

I tend to do it when I have multiple targets in close quarters - specifically when I am more interested in causing havoc in case I can get out of it versus getting the kill. This is probably why I die so much . . .

Added sometimes just for you Paradigm.

I would argue though that when I face off against one of the better players on the server I believe firing from the hip gives me the edge I need to win. That split second I don't have to spend pulling up the iron sights can be the deciding factor.

I 100% agree on hip firing when you encounter a large number of enemies. Dropping to the ground is suicide since you'l have 3 or 4 entire clips in you before you can blink. Thats when I start circling around, trying to make myself hard to hit, and fire from the hip

I only use the iron sights on a pkm at very long range... otherwise I just use short bursts "from the hip" so to speak.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

    Re: Firing From The Hip

I drop to the ground WAAAAY too much - it's such a bad bloody habit, and when I don't do it my rounds tend to improve dramatically. It's what's "natural" for me - and when I'm not focused it's what I do by default.

I don't think your poll lets us change our vote :P

I voted before reading the topic.

Paradigm, you can have my vote! lol

I get inaccurate shots galore when I fire from the hip - unless in very close quarters.

Single fire zoom in - however - very successful with G36

    Re: Firing From The Hip

wow, i'm really surprised at how many people zoom in as a habit...

i'm an old cs player, so i never scope in unless the target is far enough away to warrant it, or i'm sniping. i haven't found a noticeable difference in accuracy scoped unless it's a distance shot.
