Stuck on "Connecting to account server" How in the devil do I fix this?

I'm trying to load up BF2 on my other computer and I'm having no luck connecting to the account server... any ideas? Please be under the assumption I have a technical knowledge and have checked everything that comes to mind outside the game.

I got it to load 1x
Then got, server refused connection 3x
then I remain stuck and connecting to account server screen! bah!

well... no luck there...

this game works fine on my xp box upstairs on the same net connection.

Are your running it as administrator?

The last few days mine has been taking an unusually long time to connect to the account server when I log in. I just figured it was lag or EA was having some problems with the master servers.

Well I have uac off and am currently doing a full reinstall, in sp2 compatibility mode this time... crossing fingers

wow... that was a real pita!

Rebooted router
added ports to firewall
did the fix listed in this post:

I'm at least on now...
