FPS LOW!!
I was playing SF and everytime the action got heavy my fps would go down to 13 or even lower. I think it has always been kinda low but I want to get it a little higher, because when it gets too low I end up getting knifed by some noob like reiskis. My computer isn't a overclocked, watercooled monster like some of you but when I got bf2 I made sure I had more than enough of everything to play it on high settings. Maybe I need to upgrade something and I don't know it like the video card, but I think I just need some tweaking. So my question is...What is a normal FPS?
I tried reserving one processor for the game instead of running it on both but that did nothing. Here is my setup.
Manufacturer:
Dell Inc
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory:
2046MB RAM
Hard Drive:
244 GB
Video Card:
256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO
Monitor:
Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card:
SigmaTel Audio
Speakers/Headphones:
Logitech
Keyboard:
USB Root Hub
Mouse:
USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp.050622-1524)

Also, if I got a card it would be one around 100.00, but some, not all, that I saw in that range had bad reviews, like they were dead out of the box, or over heat, have one fan speed, or are loud, can someone point me in the right direction. thanks for the help

Homie...you have everything there that that game calls for, BUT... your GPU is holding you WAY back...
if you can spend around 150$ get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150337
(YES, XFX came out with ATI cards and theyre supposedly solid as a rock, comes witha double liftetime manufacturer warranty upon registration within 30 days of purchase...you will have that card for ever.)
If not 150...at least scrape up enough for this:

Eithere one of those are going to boost your frames to numbers you SHOULD be seeing with the rig specs you've provided.
Im recommending ATI cuz thats what you already have and I dont think anyone should change waht DELL fucking corporate cock suck uber computer company with their wafer thin motherboards and piece of shit loud ass green housing for your cpu heatsink that captures dust and fucks eveything up in there, mother fuckers has built for them.
Theres only one thing I need to know, how many Watts is the power supply those guru's at dell put in there for ya?

I have a 500 Watt and my system does just fine. Another thing to do is to download PCWizard and make sure your POWER Supply is running proper voltage, as that can affect gameplay especially if it's low on the voltage to your motherboard or components since when you play they consume more power. This past fall I had a power supply that was dropping to 11.88 & 10.88 on the voltage while gaming. Needless to say it was a bitch to diagnose. It made gameplay hell for BF2 & PR. Once I replaced the power supply {warranted that bitch out}, everything got a lot better.****************11B*************** Look for Pathfinder75thB in TeamSpeak! ***************11B*****************

Demon, the minimum you power supply needs to be is 450watts to run that XFX card.
