Thread: BF2142 Issue.. Anyone have any ideas?

There's some known issues with CD emulation software and the SecuROM. Do you have Daemon Tools or some other CD emulation software...

I had something like this happen to me recently. Just out of the blue my DVD drive wasn't detected anymore. I did a quikck googleing and found reference to a high and low filter registry key that should be removed. I took them out, rebooted and SCORE the DVD showed up again. Although I get an error about burning in iTunes now but who cares? Who seriously burns CDs or DVDs anymore?

I had that iTunes error with my old laptop. I know I fixed it, but I can't remember how.

--I just remembered, the drive had actually failed so the fix was a new drive. I know I've seen a fix for your situation on some forums though.

I have the same issue with BF2. I assume it might be a crappy "secure-rom" issue..

Did you in fact install the game useing this SATA drive? 2142 does have SecuROM and it might be seeing that the drive itself has changed then think you are not the rightful player, sort of like a built in DRM. My suggestion is you follow the "Complete uninstall" process. (Item #8 Here; http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=19592.0 )

Then reinstall fresh with that drive. Make sure you update the drives for it first.

And then you get to do the patch dance.

Fresh install 2142
Install patch 1.4
install Northern Strike (If you have it)
Install Patch 1.4 (Again)
Install Patch 1.5 Incremental

Hope that works.
