I'm fairly sure what I thought was driver hell was actually the proc dying. Random power offs, couldn't even idle for more than 10 minutes at some points. No warnings, just straight power off.

PS tested good. Couldn't even make it into the BIOS at times before powering off so that ruled out temperature related issues.

If the PSU was good but it had problems POSTing it sounds like a mother board issue.

DDR3 only took nearly 3 hours to download the 1.5 patch last night 1/2 Gig patch, that's silly. I still have to contend with obtaining/installing the NS pack.

L4D presumably installed sometime last night as well.
