Walker, I think he is talking about in the actual Vanilla server. Just add a very brief advertisement for the monthly match about a week before it takes place and let it roll with the server information that usually scrolls through as people are playing.

I've never seen it....It's actually a pretty good idea as it might get people in to the forums.

Yes, we need one more scrolling announcement for people to ignore in game. Not saying it is a bad idea, but I hardly ever pay attention to the scrolling messages in game, and I bet if you took an honest poll most others don't either. My point still stands that we have 20-30 people saying keep them going, but our matches only have 10-15 people in them. Check the old school matches. They were 30v30 with all admins, regs, reservists, etc. This was the case because all of these people cared. Like Moto said, it seems that is the case just about every night on the reg server, so what makes the matches special anymore?

Just because people can't show up to one or two, doesn't mean the interest isn't there. And if you give up before even starting the server, how do you know who will end up showing or not?

I am not trying to blame anyone. Go check the facts. Go back 1-2 years and look at the old signups. They were full. Now look at the new signups, we get ~8-10 confirmed and ~8-10 reserved. Let's say all of them show up you have 20 people. A far cry from 60. What changed? Why the lack of interest?

    Re: Cancel the monthly matches?

Since the match forum does not go back past January of last year here is yet again proof that monthly matches used to mean something.

    Roadhog,

I appreciate you trying to keep this going, but how can you say it needs more advertising? We have 3 resident clans that are primarily BF2 clans. Those three clans alone have almost 100 members combined. If you add the AONO guys, plus all the random BF2 guys in other clans, and then the unclanned regs I bet you are at about 150 regs/reservists/admins for BF2. For the last few matches you, and others, have posted in every clan forum on the site, including those that don't even have members that own BF2.

What can we do to make it special again?

    Re: Cancel the monthly matches?

My point was that I found out about the matches from this vote on keeping it going.
I still don't know when they are scheduled or if Cheatwood is even needed.

The in game scrolling is a good idea. But it tends to scroll too quickly in populated rounds... :8 :4 :6 :5
I think a message during the loading screen with the server info is a good place to put it.
