Thread: A warning about vacating the Commander slot

Just a fair warning to our regulars on the server. If you vacate the Commander slot during a round because your side is getting ripped, you will be kicked, temp banned or perm banned depending on how often the admins see it happening.

Is it frustrating to not have squads performing their duties? Sure, but it is just as frustrating to see a regular to our server(s) throw their hands up and quit. Vacating the commander slot violates the basic tenants of what we stand for at TTP.

That personally seems a bit extreme...though only reason I'd leave halfway during a round is because I have to go, though this is rare because I force the 'ole "5 more minutes!" till the end. Though I understand, and am not trying to argue, just giving my opinion + posting so I can post the PS. Hope no misunderstandings happen for me now.

I'm talking about when it is obvious. Like vacating and joining a squad or creating one and still staying on the server. There are never vendetta's and it's never personal, just the enforcement of teamplay.

I command quite a bit on TTP server and this sounds reasonable. Even if the ship is sinking, the Captain should stay with it until the end.

I just wish there was some mandate to make a team get a commander as a few times I've wanted to just lead a squad and nobody would command.

I see what you mean. It can be very frustrating when you're the commander on a "bad" team.

I have never resigned from a commander spot in the middle of the round, unless I had to go or something. And usually, when I command our team is in it to win it.

Other than having to leave the game, there really is no reason to abandon the position. If it feels like it's coming down to that then start ripping some squad leaders new assholes over chat and ask for an admin to start kicking players who will not follow orders. Don't be afraid to call people out. If you are doing your job then everyone else who is doing their job will back you up.

I also think this claus should be added....

"If you accept the commander spot when the round starts, but when you spawn you get in a jet/heli/tank/vechile, and leave the commander spot; I believe you should get banned for a minimum of a week period."

That's just me being pissed when I see a commander and become and SL, then request a vechile drop 10min later, only to see we don't have a commander anymore. H7 knows my frustation in this.

So let's say I'm a reg, but new to commanding and want to try - I should stay the hell off the TTP server, because if I'm screwing up and my team is getting tuned, I can't resign and let someone who knows what they are doing take over?

It's annoying when the commander quits out of the blue if the game is close, I agree, but how often has it been happening? If the game is lopsided, does it make any difference if the %$#@ quits?

This may not be the best commander development program. We don't want bad commanders to quit? I'm confused.
