    microphone problems

My headset was working perfectly until a few days ago. It works on every login name except for mine. My little brother uses it for Vent and Skype all the time, but when I try speech recognition on my name (I have Vista), the bar doesn't even go slightly up, but I know mic works.

Vista recognizes it but literally no sound, no matter how loud I talk, is picked up.

Anyone know how to fix this? I keep talking in BF2, but no one hears me.

Just a thought....maybe one of the programs messed with the settings in Windows..

Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Recording>Select your mic to highlight it,and bring up the Properties box,and click it>Advanced>Make sure the box next to"Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" is UNCHECKED.

    Just a thought..Hope it helps.

I just checked mine and I have that checked. Never have any issues with my USB mic, be it in game or TS.

    Fascinating.

    Try this...

Control panel> Sounds & audio device's> Voice tab> Test hardware

that's how I got mine to work properly...

Maybe people hear you, they just don't want to listen...

Are you transmitting the way you feel in a polite and civil manner? Maybe if you try the latter, you will get a better response from the people you are talking to. try it

That is what I was going to suggest... DARN!!
    Restart.
    Reclick.
    Replug.
    Rethink.
    Redo.
    And if that doesn't work...
    Resign...

I've also been having the same issues. Using Vista x64 and Creative x-fi card, 64bit drivers of course.

I've done all the speech rec setup in Windows, plus the voice setup for BF2. It's like it detects voice but it's very very very soft in game, most people can't hear me at all. If I turn on the 20dB gain people say it's unreadable and scratchy....

    Any more ideas?

    Re: microphone problems

Yes I had this same issue as well playing on the TTP servers last night, 3/19. I could hear the commander but nobody else in my squad could hear me and I coudn't transmit.

I've been using the MIC for 4 years now with BF2, but I will try what a few of you have suggested doing here.

Something is definitely up though, probablly on my end.

Careful Tamato....snipe is talking so sweet here I think he likes you.

I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!
