Saszeus and Ranger10, helo pilot and squad leader
I usually do not hop in helos. In my opinion the helo is much harder to learn than flying a jet. The helo can be brought down by so many other pieces of equipment that it challenges the best pilots. Jets normally have to worry about other jets and even if you get owned by the enemy....you can still have a pretty good game.
The helo tandum really needs to work together and if you have a great gunner and a poor pilot you arent going to do good and if you have a good pilot and a lousey gunner the helo is castrated.
When I say good gunner I am referring more to the use of the TV.
Unlike the jet where a learning pilot can get his fair share of opportunities......to get into a helo with another player who is counting on your abilities.....it puts a lot of pressure on a player when he is trying to learn.
In the last week I have had the opportunity to gun for 2 very good pilots, Saszeus and Ranger10.
Now I know that most of you that knows these 2 guys are saying "No joke Sherlock!"... , however it isn't just their ability to fly the helo that makes them great. It is their attitude! I jumped into the helo with Sas and told him immediately that I wasn't very skilled with the TV. In a calm voice and with lots of patience by the end of the round I had one of the best rounds I have ever had. He didn't get upset when I missed with the TV missle and he got me in positions where it was damn hard to miss. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience because Sas made it enjoyable.
Yesterday I had my first opportunity to fly with Ranger10 in a helo.....and again.....like Sas....Ranger10 made the experience and the game play one of the best I have had. I finished with 46 kills and 0 deaths. Like Sas, Ranger was patient....calm in the heat of battle and knew just how to line up the helo even for a 400 meter shot to make it hard to miss. Again like Sas...it wasn't just his piloting of the helo that made the experience so good...it was his attitude, to take a helo noob like me and make me look like an expert.
By the end of both flights with Sas and Ranger I felt like an expert.
The same quality that makes them great pilots also makes them great squad leaders.
Guys I wrote this to say thanks for the experience and to also give you the deserved credit in front of your peers.
I look forward to flying and squading with you both in the future.
Thanks again.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

I have not had the pleasure of flying with either, but Ranger10 as my SL on the ground could be the single biggest reason I am at TTP today. I remember watching the scoreboard screen waiting for either him or Jeep to start a squad, so I could quickly join. Even in all of my noobness they never once lost patience with me. But Ranger is a chump now because he won't even answer my PMs.

Re: Saszeus and Ranger10, helo pilot and squad leader
Both guys are some of the best pilots to fly with. I have been trying for months to get my expert badges for each of the infantry classes. Steve has gotten me close to 40 kills several times, but some smurf always seemed to mess it up by trying to get in the chopper. Ranger helped me get my expert tank badge. In my opinion, 40 kills is almost impossible to get on the ground. It's easy as pie if you can get the chopper pretty much the whole round and you have a great pilot like Ranger or Steve who take the time to line up shots and communicate with you.

First of all, it is an honor to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Ranger10. He has always been at the top of my list. I also really appreciate the kind words.
I remember When I learned to fly and gun, it was always nice not to be treated as a burden on the tandem crew and a patient pilot always made it alot more enjoyable and relaxing. I am just paying it forward. I am a good pilot, but I am better at and really enjoy helping other players improve their flight skills;as pilots or gunners.
