....is normal in Real Life....but why not in BF2?
I'm guilty of it too. I don't punish vehicle drivers when they run me over though like 99% of the BF2 community, but I totally do it. Regardless of the kit, unless I'm being tactically smart and checking all my directions at all times, then it's usually arty that gets me.
But roadkill.....?
The other day on Karkand, my squad capped Square and headed towards train via Market (32 & 16 size map flag-point) and as I jumped off a building, I totally didn't see the APC driving at 40MPH down the road.......SPLAT!!
So what's that about? Do you guys do it too? Do you look both ways before you cross the street, or do you just go and hope that nothing hits you in the ass?
This came to me as I was driving an APC at mach 2 from the USMC Gas Station and this AT dude was walking on a diagonal from the grenade fest part of Hotel - crossing the street and I squashed him like a bug on the hood and he punished of course.........
Are we basically on auto-pilot when there's nothing going on? Maybe that's it.....

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
My Radar stays zoomed all the way out and I watch my radar more than I do my screen. So I usually see the big blue Icon coming at me unless it glitches it into a "Dot" like the rest of the units on my team. Most of the time I get ran over its because someone swerves into me to avoid something else or god forbid I'm walking up a hill with my entire squad and my teammate driving the car decides he can only drive in straight lines with a brick on the gas petal and not an once of remorse.

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
I always look both ways before I cross, IRL and in game. And if i'm driving and someone decides to run out in front of me when I'm gunning the FAV at top speed, thats their damn problem. Naturally, i dont try to hit them, but it happens enough to where I'm starting to get a bit pissy.

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
I get punished all the time and forgiven. My view is: driving a tank, APC or a fast mover is harder to control than a foot soldier and therefore should be given the right of way. I also do not look both ways and do not blame the driver if I get accidentally TK; which is why I do not punish.
ENF "No warning has to be given for a ban. We ban first in game and ask questions later in the forum. "
Vafaskillz "I am finding no abuse here and bum...believe me....we do not need you or your money."
Baahhhahahhahahah!!

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
I look alot at the surroundings, like the trees that Chosen crash into, the beautiful flowers and BAM I'm dead! lol. Nah! Most of the time but not all the time I check, I listen, and view the map as well. If I do get run over I do forgive the driver. I do accidentally run people over when I drive (Don't say it, some people are worst than me driving), they are just plain dodobirds to get in my way and I can't HONK the horn with an APC!!! Thank God I'm a medic and revive the player which I still get punished for it.

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
I drive the fast movers a lot and I'm constantly looking around. I've noticed that most my TK's happen when I'm starting the vehicle up and are "nudge deaths" as opposed to full on someone going through your windshield at 45 mph deaths.
The games stupid collision system or whatever it is doesn't help either. Tapping into someone should not be instakill. I can take being shot but multiple rounds but I can't live through getting tapped by the bumper of a dune buggy? What he hell EA, what the hell.
I still love that damn DPV.

Re: Looking both ways before you cross.......
I never punish for any TK unless it is intentional. I think punishing is in bad form.
But it is extremely frustrating when someone charges out in front of my vehicle while I am moving and then punishes when their stupidity gets them killed.
I know what you mean about the tap deaths...
Like walking into the back of the jet when it pushes you out of the way when it spawns...
Or getting out of the car and trying to hop over the corner where the car is against a wall, NOT MOVING, and it kills you... <sigh>
