Squad Rules (Allow Squad Names to Reserve Assets)

Hello the the BF2 PR Admin community!

I'm here for a group of voices about a following rule that is currently not on our server, this is the rule of assets and squad names. Now I see many servers do this, some with succession and some with failure. With the admin ground of this server I see it being a success. It's mentioned by a lot of pubbers who come in about "Why is there no asset squad name rule??". This later brought to my attention of downfalls and time half saved for the admins (maybe so).

So to the point, a group of us would like to see an implication of a "Squad named asset rule", this rule can be seen on servers such as =]H[=, GibThis and other servers. These servers are currently highly ranked compared to ours, and the gib this came up to #1 in a matter of a month or so overtaking TG.

Some advantages to this rule would be:

*Better Teamwork prespective in a way that correct squads with assets can assits making it easier for the players/commanders to organize
*Less teamkill actions over assets (still some but drops)
    - Im sure many people have reasons why to add, so put it in the thread and i'll do so.

    Some downfalls to this rule:
*Admins have to work more to make sure rule is followed
    - Im sure many people have reasons against it so put it in the thread and i'll add.

Note: Some of you may come in and bring out conversations about "ohh well you join first so you will always get the asset", or another comment may be "well you guys are jet whores and this will just let you guys get the jets more often". Or some matter of saying.

We bring this rule as a suggestion, please don't throw it back in our face with just "NO!!!! GO AWAY damn canadian....", please give us reason so we can see why. This has been brought up by many public players who stop by and how it should be there, i've come to draft this as a request.

    -Thank you

    Edit: for clearer title.

    Re: Squad Rules.

I have been pondering this for a bit, while I do understand it would make the admins job slightly more difficult, it would definitely decrease the amount of TK's that happen...so that would make the job slightly more easier too.

    Re: Squad Rules.

I witnessed this myself today on the TTP PR server. Several pubbers brought up why squad names should reserve assests, I believe that if we have such a rule, it would bring more organization and less fighting to the battlefield. We ask the Admin community to look into this and think about whether you would like to have such a rule.

Commanders can already organize and reserve assets for specific squads. Moreover, what about situations where there are three squads all named "APC", but there are only two APCs that spawn. Who gets to use the asset? Are all three equally entitled?

*Less teamkill actions over assets (still some but drops)
Not necessarily. However, this will add to the admin's workload when the accusations start flying of "XYZ stole my such-and-such, kick him" and on, and on, and on. As it is now, the admins can just issue a "first come first serve" message and the problem is resolved.

*Admins have to work more to make sure rule is followed
This right here pretty much kills the idea outright. Anything where you have to say "admins" and "increased workload" in the same sentence, is probably not going to happen.

    ---

The rules of TTP are simple: squad up, follow orders, do your job. How does this proposal increase the elegance or simplicity of that ruleset? How does it deal with the myriad exceptional situations that will come up?

If you want to have assets reserved to squads, go Commander.

It's simple, it's clean, and it's easy to admin.

The same guys will make the same squads round after round, kinda like the TG server.

    Hmm
I'm still a oob to this, however I can see where this is benificial to all. If you have 3 squads named APC. The APC's should go in order of the sqauds created. For example S1, S3, and S4 all are titled APC. Well S4 is shit out of luck and S1 and S3 get the APCS. However, since there are only 2 seats in the APC that are really needed. S1 would have to lable there squad APCx2 if they wanted both APCS, then S3 would be out of luck.
But if S1 made a squad called APC and S3 made a squad called APCx2, S3 would only get 1 APC because S1 was before them.

If you are wondering how I get the S1 and so forth, it is in the list, like Alpha Bravo, Charlie... The order they appear.

How if the APCx2 /S1 only has 3 people in there squad and APC /S3 has 4 people in there sqaud, they are now entitled to an APC because S1 does not meet the required people to in the APC.

For Helo's- same applies, however only 1-2 people should be in the helo, pilot/nav. That way the main job of the helo is pickup and delivery. If GP/S2 needs a ride and HELO/S4 is down then the SL must give up his Officer kit to get Pilot. This way it doesn't make something un even for the teams.

    Your thoughts?

I have to agree with Goof on this one. All you'll end up with is the same people making the same squads over and over. If it's that big of a deal, then go command, and direct people into the assets. If not, sorry, but First Come, First Serve has worked for some time for TTP BF2, and I don't see any reason to change.

Re: Squad Rules (Allow Squad Names to Reserve Assets)

Typically, this is not how TTP does things. We don't seperate elitist players and allow them to monopolize the assets that other people would like to learn to use. Believe me, I wish we did. I'd be in the helo every round on Vanilla. I do understand that assets are more valuable in PR than they are in Vanilla because of the infrequency with which they respawn, and in some cases are lost forever. The use of these assets by accomplished players can mean the difference between success and loss. But that's not the TTP way.

You can take the commanders seat and assign the squads and assets that way, but I caution the first person that joins just to hand out assets to his buddies, then leaves the CDMR seat to join that squad. You will be banned for doing that. You've been warned.

    Moving on.

It's unfortunate that some people will lose the helo on take off because they don't know how to fly, but those are the breaks. If people are habitually screwing up assets, or taking out friendly vehicles, THAT's when the admins step in. Those kinds of situations are much easier to police than babysitting the airfield and depots to make sure people get the right kits.

So in conclusion, TTP doesn't have a vehicle line, a no-base rape policy (unless priming the server), or a specific squad that gets to use the most powerful assets all the time.

It is possible that the admins will review this topic and decide it's a good idea, but I highly doubt it will happen.

Re: Squad Rules (Allow Squad Names to Reserve Assets)

No lines. What if you get a chopper squad that doesn't have the prowess that some of our other folks on the server have? Crashing the chopper every time it gets up, but yet under this scenario because they named their squad as such, they have dibs on the chopper.

What can we expect next? Constant chat railing about how much they SUCK.

I give this idea a big 'ol NO. Sorry.
