New BF2 Laptop
So here's the laptop I just bought: It's for when I go to college but I will definitely load BF2 on this piece.
HP HDX16t Premium Series Notebook PC
Windows Vista
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2 GHz)
4 GB RAM
320 GB HDD
1 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M
16.0" Diagonal
LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
Webcame + Fingerprint Reader
Intel Next-Gen Wireless -N Mini Card
All for a little over $1000. ($1016.49)
I'm thinking this is a powerhouse to run BF2. I don't really know much but I think it can run it on medium settings at least. So what's the verdict?

Re: New BF2 Laptop
I have almost the same setup but with an nVidia 8600M GT (256 MB DDR2). I can run at medium to high settings at 1024x768, although I could probably run a majority of high settings if I had the patience to tweak it more. So your faster video card should get you even higher. I would highly recomend making sure your video card has DDR3 memory, and make sure you open it up and clean the dust out of it every few months in order to keep your CPU/GPU temperatures down, which can have an amazing effect on performance. Windows XP would probably run it better (10% is my take from what I have read?), but I am currently running Vista which works good enough considering XP is slowly getting phased out. I can't wait to try Windows 7.

I don't know much about that video card but you should pretty much be able to max it out the video settings, including AA. One thing I would HIGHLY recommend is to get a laptop cooling pad or surface, whatever they are called. If you're like me and your laptop is your main gaming machine (and you play a shitload of BF2), the laptop is going to get hot and stay hot for long periods of time. I bought a VAIO in 2007 that went tits up basically because of heat issues, it was even sent into warranty for repair and it would still get burning hot. Right now I play on the new unibody Macbook pro and I run at maxed settings but it gets hot as hell.

On that beast, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a USB plug in fan cooler. Its going to need that extra cooling power.
