Thread: Base Rape.

Here is a good running conversation on the concept of base rape. If you can read, then you can determine for your own selves if you are part of the problem or a victim. I will strongly suggest that everyone read the posts for them selves. Then pay strict attention to *posts made by these people addressing what is and is not to happen on the server. *I myself; along with Civil, Chosen, & Commander have addressed the topic and what is and is not tolerated on the server.

Get up to speed and make others aware of this topic. Personal preferences of how to play the game are not the issue here.

What is the issue and has been the issue; is pressing the tactic when It's clearly hurting the server {low population or priming}. Do not be part of the problem and do not encourage it.

Don't know who you think "everybody" is, but it sure isn't me. No, I don't agree with baseraping in PR. I think it's ridiculous and ruins the game.
However, it is against server rules to do it while the server is priming - of that all regulars are clear on. Most regulars are also clear on "gentleman's agreements" during priming that no actual game play takes place, until an agreed upon number of people join the server.
For the others - you don't like getting bent over because your team blows? Remember it the next round, and get the hell out of dodge, and build FOBs that aren't in the open where every swinging d!ck can find them to blow them up. Too many people are more interested in being "leet airwhores" or "leet tank drivers", and don't get their boots on the ground. If you're more interested in doing your own thing than you are in helping your team, then you get what you deserve. A group that teams up to complete the objectives will beat the "uber-leet lone wolves" every time.

You know a nice way to eliminate the issue would be for the devs to do one or two things. Build the DOME of DEATH with an almost immediate death timer, i.e. instantaneous. Second idea would be to randomly place the uncappable main bases on the map. Thus slowing down the for-knowledge and remove the structures from showing up on the opposing forces map. Another thing they could do would be to penalize the players killing players or assets that report to be in the main. If the devs aren't willing to do that, then they are relying upon the players to police themselves and we all know that aint going to happen.

And if you think I'm going to sit an entire round monitoring the issue, then you are wrong. Admins don't need to be doing that, when there are so many more game-play/team-play issues prevalent on the server.

Because, obviously, the other team has shown up to play. Blame you and yours for not returning the favor and getting pushed off the field.

Base raping protection and such silly rules are for games that have spawns like 1997 style of maps. Old games. Games like quake 1, or Doom II, or ______, where the entire level is 100m across.

If another team is able to take all the flags, shut down all the exits, and surround you and your last remaining spawn or UCB, then that team wins. So, take your licks, and fight desperately, hoping to get lucky, or stop spawning and let the round end.

And in that waiting period, while you are watching your tickets hopelessly drain off the board, talk to your dead teammates, figure out what the fucking problem is, and fix it.

The game is killing. the game is war. Not checkers. Not "my turn then your turn". Not some turn based strategy game, or some kids game of cops and robbers with "no fair I shot you first" rules and timeouts.

If you get beat, you get beat. And getting beat includes getting boxed in so badly, by your own lack of awareness of the battlefield, that you have no options other than surrender and death.

Don't diminish yourselves by coming in here blaming the other team for capitalizing on your weakness. Don't make you and your clan/squad/home community look weak by calling for an "unfair, timeout, omg mom" type argument. The people that play here are more than willing to endure YOU trying to baserape them. And if you succeed, you're not going to hear them say "OMG stop base raping me".

BUT, if you were on their team, you would most certainly hear and read them getting together, figuring out what's wrong, restructuing who's in charge and what their game plan is going to be, and getting ready for the next round. Just because YOU don't want to play in a big picture mentality doesn't mean we have to dumb down OUR game to suit your inability to work harder, play harder, coordinate better, and win.

"you" being anyone in this thread that claims "base raping took my fun away". No, it didn't. You playing the game poorly did that.
