    2142 Joystick

Ok im thinking of going and getting a Joystick for flying stuff. Duh, are they usefull for helicopters like they are for jets? I havnt used a joystick since playing F16 or something on DOS 6.22 but because of that game I play all my FPSers inverted.
Would yall use a joystick to control a mech? That might be cool.
:?: Yall like the joystick for the attack helicopter thing :?:

    RE: 2142 Joystick

i think the mech is too much like a tank, to be using joystick with the separate forward/back/rotate in addition to the turret movement...unless maybe you incorporated a joystick and mouse (joystick for navigation, mouse for turret). :?:

i must be too used to flying heli's in bf2, but i cant even figure out the attack heli thing yet. like, whats up with the throttle down? it makes the thing hover...yet if you do no throttle you fall out of the sky :? people keep saying how easy they are to fly though <shrug> and whats up with the 'tv' missile? move your mouse a little bit and the thing goes spiraling out of control. the times i have gotten hits, either they go right thru the target, a la bf2, or the target's counter measure goes off... :P

Yea that missle is crazy. And the hover thing is just like the hover jet in BF2. Throttle down to hover.

I use a joystick for any kind of flying what-so-ever, but for mechs I just use my keyboard. Joysticks for flying work so much easier my my opinion.

Do you use a seprate throttle control stick or your keyboard for that control? Ive seen a joystick that comes with a little throttle thing, looks cool!

My jotstick does have serperate control stick and throttle, I have to use 2 hands to fly one on the throttle and one on the stick, gives more a of a feel to the game and sometimes makes you fly better, but thats just me.

    RE: 2142 Joystick

xbox 360 controller is an all around good pad/joystick type deal for 2142, my friend borrowed one of mine...cuz i personally dislike 2142 greatly, but anyway works well for flying/mech/ even infantry as he uses it for everything.

That sounds like a cool idea, didnt think really about that, so you mean he just hooked it up to his cpu? I might have todo that. But it wouldnt feel right, cause then i wouldnt have the joystick...hmmm maybe if it doesnt work good ill return it for a joystick, but the game pad might be more fun, even running around shooting people, kinda like halo or something.

    RE: 2142 Joystick

I hat flying with Joysticks in 2142 cause it isn't as sensitive as my keypad which I like sensitivity you know? And the throttle you need to fly well is so time consuming to maintain.
