    Any suggestions?

Recently, I am sure that a few of you have noticed that I am shooting single fire more than usual. The last fight with the wife seems to have broken my Logitech LX3 mouse when I slammed it down in anger. She was telling me she wanted me to go fix the TV for her immediately while I was in the middle of a round. She pressed the "input" button on the TV again, instead of the volume button. So now my mouse doesn't stay "clicked" down anymore.

This has made playing engineer and support very painful since I usually like to empty whole machine gun clips at hostiles. Even though my SMG and LMG accuracy has gone up, fixing equipment has become a major pain.

I have to say that my Logitech LX3 mouse was very fast and accurate mouse for FPS games and even business applications compared to my previous $50 non-gaming mouses. Anyone have experience with the Logitech G500 or G9? What mouse do you use?

Also, as I mentioned before, my microphone / sound card / something is still not working. I normally use Plantronic headset, but am thinking to switching to a USB wireless headset. I tried using a Logitech Gaming Headset G330, but the microphone feedback was absolutely horrible, and the audio was much worse than my Plantronics Gamecon 777. On the Plantronics, I could actually hear footsteps of hostiles approaching, besides being able to hear armor, gunfire, and the approximate position of everything. I am hesitant to purchase another Plantronics, since my wife has already broken 4 by accident by trying to walk away from the laptop without taking off the headphone (these headphones are really comfortable). Any suggestions here would be appreciated as well.

I still wonder if my sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium) or even my RAID may be going. But mostly, I believe there is a malware interfering with my system. I run Avira Premium Security Suite, Webroot Spysweeper, PCTools Spyware Doctor, and Malwarebytes. I suspect some unknown backdoor was accidentally installed by family on a recent visit. Some network tcpdumps have revealed some strange traffic on my gaming system, and there are some ports open with programs I don't know what they are. I built 3 systems for the family kids and friends for their use when they were visiting, but came home one night to find one of them on this gaming system running a "free" game on it. Needless to say, I was not happy, and I'm still finding a virus or suspicious file on the system every now and then. I'm thinking I should just drop off the entire system to a friend who works at Symantec, to see if their lab boys can figure out what's happening. Besides this, do you guys have a suggestion for a scan. I've already dumped the RAID onto another drive and ran a scan on it from a secure computer using 3 more antivirus products (Kaperski, Bitdefender, and NOD32), but couldn't find anything as well.

You could always map another fire button for now. Don't some of you snipers use a keyboard key for fire, so as not to shake the crosshairs?

Also, I've heard that USB mics can cause trouble for 2142.

Uhh.... don't argue with the wife?

Okay, seriously, for the mouse, I have a Logitech MX610 mouse. 11 buttons, all pretty much programable. Wireless. Laser. Not officially a "gaming mouse", but it's great for 2142. Have a 10 $ stand mic. Never had problems with either one. Just a cheap pair of Sony earbuds. Nothing else.

    I have the following:

mouse: was a gift...prolly paid $30. works great! model is mx518 by logitech

    mic: paid $10 from overstock

    headset:
I would not bother with anything fancy, the mic is the most important compenent so buy it seperately. My headset is a POS because the mic is not long enough (reaches to my cheek and is not sensitive enough to pick up my voice)

do what Forquetsson recc. and just get a cheap pair of headphones and a good mic.

oh and...dont piss off the wifey as for she is the key to your happiness I know life's a bitch sometimes.

    edit: added mouse model
Hot-dogs in your buns! << why did I write this, I forgot and what was I thinking?!

I've got a G5 and love it. Prior to the G5 I had the mx1000 (the first generation laser mouse) and that was ok, but the G5 was that much better. I just need to get an honest to god gaming surface mouse mat and I'll be set. I've been saying that for months, but haven't found one that I want to plop down the money on yet.

My SpongeBob Squarepants placemat does wonders. Lot's of surface for the mouse. I recommend it to anybody. Can't beat the cost either.

See I have a traditional mousepad... and it works ok, but I can tell that the laser tracks poorly over the surface. My desk has a glossy finish, so it really confuses the hell out of the laser in the mouse. I'll buy something eventually.
