Wife troubles...
The wife says she wants her husband back or else.... so after some moments of quiet deliberation.... weighing all the variables.... considering alternatives.... looking for a compromise.... the thought process went kinda like this....
I do love my wife, more or less, more when she's not nagging me, less when she is. And she is the mother of my son, and without her I'd have to clean up after him all by myself.
I've been divorced once before, not a pleasant experience. But, it is the best way to lose weight, hell, I payed a Lawyer $600.00 and lost 189 Lbs in three days and one court appearance. Best investment I ever made. Because that weight stayed gone.
Then there's the internet, a place where you can meet strange new people and kill them repeatedly and it never gets old or stale... like marriage.
Ahhh well, I suppose the correct thing to do is to limit my time to something more reasonable than playing every single day. Maybe every other day... starting on Tuesdays perhaps, got to start somewhere, besides the new episodes of House are on Monday nights. Gawd I hate watching TeeVee.
Okay share time is over... cyas on tonight... what? this is Friday, Tuesday is four days away, it is an addiction afterall, can't just stop cold turkey.
But, after that it's every other day.... that the wife isn't watching.

I think cutting back isn't at all unreasonable. Never play again? well unreasonable. Gotta spend more time with the wife by the sounds of it.

But, cutting back is not necessarily a bad thing. But, stopping completely is, of course, unreasonable and out of the question.

I'm married too, so I know where you are coming from. Overall, my wife is pretty reasonable when it comes to my gaming addiciton. But don't get me wrong, she has her days when she gets fed up and the nagging and sighing begins.
One suggestion I have is like you hinted at, have scheduled times where you are going to game, and scheduled times when you are going to have "family" time. This helps establish a routine and rather than just coming in and seeing you playing, she will know to expect it because its scheduled. Women do not like other things to take priority over them, even if it's for good reason.
But quit all together. . . .? Hmmmm. No way. I guess if it came down to in my case CSS or my wife. . . I guess I would.....well, let's just hope I never have to make that decision.

Tricky situation.
Really the only people that should be giving advice should be married and have children. (room too talk)
What is acceptable gaming times from her point of view?
You mentioned you hated watching TV so let me guess your wife wants you to sit and watch crap for one hour?
Find a show the both of you can watch or make a movie night dedicated to sitting with her etc etc.
My wife is cool with me playing games anytime I want just as long as our other priorities do not fall behind. Most of my game time is when the kidos are taking a nap, kids are in bed at night, or grandma and the wife/kids head out to Wal-mart to do their thing.
Maybe next time you should add the game time clause in the pre-nump. 8)

Trust me... if she is upset, 3-4 times a week isn't going to help.
Cut down to once a week plus times when she is asleep or out of the house.
Do it fast.
I went through the same thing with Everquest. I cut back and she saw that as meeting her half way and was grudgingly okay with it but in the end, it wasn't enough.
I now sit alone at home, playing less than I ever did when I had someone here to spend my time with. Don't make that mistake, I know I won't again.
