Knife Fighting while SL'ing - or - "Why I was a coward last night" :)
So last night I must (ashamedly) admit that I had to turn down 2 separate knife fights, and yes I felt like a coward for doing it But outside of the fact that I suck at it (can't count the number of times I've even sliced a non-moving target and missed ), there is actually a good reason for me not doing it (or at least in my mind I can rationalize one )
Because I tend to SL just about all the time, knife fighting while SL'ing is actually bad for my squad (see, there's my rationalization, I don't knife fight cause I suck at it, I don't do it for the squad. Sounds much more noble). My ability to stay alive as a spawn point for my squad depends a) on the enemy not knowing where I am and b) my ability to stay mobile. Knife fighting defeats both of those.
Now when someone whips out their Rambo knife and starts running at me there is a really good chance that his buddies now know I'm here as well. And just like the Michael Jackson "Beat It" video, everyone loves to come see a good knife fight so they all come a runnin'. Now if everyone was willing to honor the "Don't interfere and let the winner walk away alive" code it wouldn't be such a big issue. But invariably a private Johnson runs up and sees an easy 2 points and plugs me while I dance around his buddy with a butter knife. Or they actually do wait until I do knife their buddy (albeit rarely)- then shoot me, take my med kit, and rez their fallen comrade before their entire squad TBags me.
So just understand that if you pull a knife on me (and it's becoming more and more common the longer I'm here - I'm starting to take it personally ) I will most likely gracefully decline with a few bursts from my G36E. In the rare situation that you do catch me and you're alone I'll give it a go - and I'll even try to have my squad give you safe passage after you stick the blade in my ribs. But bear in mind if you miss and I don't, I (and the rest of my squad) will be sitting on your head and the last thing you will see will be the collective ass of the Wookin squad as you fade away.... It could happen
See you ingame!

I can just imagine what he was thinking as he was crawling like the snake he is up to cut my ribs...in fact I can almost hear him giggle as he contemplates the stick and getting not only the kill but the "defend Flag" point.
However.......after he got two quick burst in the face with the DAO, I am sure the only thing he thought was "FUCK"!
Oh and by the way...I did not die for the next 5 minutes....got 6 more kills and captured the flag. I think Snipe got my adrenalin running!
Nothing like catching the sticker before he sticks!
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!

I like to shoot the person in a knife fight THEN pull my knife. Makes others think you just kicked their ass with a knife.
But speaking of using a knife, one thing I hate more than anything is to get someone sized up, approach them from behind and swing and hit nothing but air. They hear my failed attempt, turn around and put a couple of caps in me... So defeating both personally and for the team in that I just gave up a kill for the glory of putting a blade in their back.
