    Noobed all over again

I have stepped into the time portal in 2142, and transported myself back to the era of BF2.

And, as the title suggests, I find myself noobed all over again.

I alternate between AT and Medic depending upon whether or not I get into a squad that knows wtf they are doing, and/or will communicate with each other, and let me tell you, it's a rare event from my experience. Generally, if within the first 3 minutes I've not heard anything from any of the other squaddies, I get out of that squad.

So far the best experience has been when I've lucked up and gotten into some of the TTP Reg squads. The HRD folks have been very helpful and I greatly appreciate it. The game can be overwhelming to a new player, and being included to good squads is a great opportunity for learning. We do this alot in 2142.

I have been sticking to the basics, and so far it's helping. As a medic I am running all over the map raising people, which explains the 15 deaths, 1 kill and 25 teamscore that seems to be my usual total.

The noob weapons suck... when and how do you get the unlocks?

Are all the infantry weapons iron sights? I seem to be getting killed regularly with a single shot, from a distance, by players I am already shooting at. I'd video some of it for an example, but for some reason X-fire won't work.

I'm not saying "cheater" cause I don't know enough about the game to know the difference yet. But when I'm emptying a clip at a guy who is standing still in the open, and he can turn, drop to prone and kill me with one shot, I'm wondering if he has a better rifle than I do, and no they're not snipers, they are obviously infantry.

I hate the jets! this game lacks man portable Stingers! end of story.

Anyway, I'm in the game, and looking to learn as much as possible to be valuable to a squad, so please take pity and help a noob out sometime.

I have been playing BF2 more than 2142 lately. Upgrades take MUCH longer than 2142 and badges and medals do not add to your score making leveling up easier.

As for your squads look for names you know. I sometimes wait a min or two to spawn in, in order to squad with familiar names.

Don't worry too much about K ratio or Score. Too easy to spawn into bombing runs etc. I rarely even finish in the top 20 for my team (although got 2nd on my team once last night and had a 13 kills and only 4 deaths WOOHOO! However that is a testimonial to my local medic union more than to my skill)

You were doing great in my squad. Just don't be afraid to ask questions.

You're best unlocks is the medic kit (G36E). You get an unlock after so many points.

While being the first to fire is a good policy, whenever you engage a target crouch first. Once your crouched fire 1 shot at a time or 1 burst (Depending on your weapon). Do not fire again till the deviation is gone and your sights level to the same area you fired the last shot from. You'll get the hang of it after a bit, but if your 2-3 shots with no deviation kill a guy firing a full clip you've accomplished your goal. Don't panic regardless of how fast the enemy is firing or you'll most likely die. don't be afraid to disengage for cover either if your not going to get the kill.

On average I fire once every second or something close to that, and I almost always down the enemy before they down me. I also suggest throwing medpacks down where you plan on engaging the enemy if your a medic to give you the edge. The rest such as using cover and location can't be explained in a short and sweet paragraph.

Unless your close range, there is almost never a situation with the kits you just mentioned that you would autofire your entire clip. I usually don't see the good support players autofire either.

As for jets, a few simple tips.

-If you can walk it, walk it don't be lazy and give them a target oppurtunity.
-Keep your armor under cover, sitting without anything around you is suicide.
-If a jet lights your car up in ANY way, abandon it. All the good pilots come back, trust me.
-If its traveled a lot, its bombed a lot. Pilots will always go for what they would normally travel, they've all played on foot for hours on end just like you.
-Don't take the flag by the flag pole if possible, say to yourself "Where would the jet bomb?"

Yep...like Kel said....ALWAYS crouch, and shoot in very short bursts. The AK47 (and whatever the Chinese version is) Medic weapon is awesome...the M-16....Meh.

If you bought the Complete Collection (the one with Special Forces),you REALLY want to go play a round of SF. Playing one round will give you another tier of unlocks (which includes the coveted G36E Medic rifle),and will also give you two unlocks every time you rank up.

As for the A/T.....the US rockets can be steered at any time they are in flight...just stay scoped in,and you can drive them right to your target. The MEC and Chinese can too,but you need to hold the fire button down when you fire. There are no real sweet spots to hit an APC,but on tanks, you want to hit them in the treads...preferably on either the front or rear right where they meet the body of the tank.

And BTW....You did a great job gunning in the Cobra the other day. Nice short bursts and you made one hell of a nice shot with the TV guided missile on the Chinese chopper. Keep at it.

And don't worry about your KDR.....this aint CS:S. Your gonna die...a lot. You will eventually learn tricks to minimize your deaths, but still...don't let it get at you.

I've been noobing it up lately on BF2 as well. I think I'm doing alright tho.

Well, I played for like a year or two when it first came out, so it's kind of hard to lose those skills. Great tips so far...

The M16 is good when fired in semiauto. IMO, the burst option usually just wastes 2 rounds unless your in a CQB situation.

My KD:R sucks aswell, who cares?

If your on the TTP server, and see some =]UB[= members in game, squad up with them, or me.

I love the G36E medic gun, put it on single shot, and you can outgun most people on a decent range, only spray if you see 2/3 guys coming at you at a small distance.
