Thread: Extremely disapointed with DICE and BF2:BC2

Now.. I have to admit, I am pretty sensitive on this subject. I have been betaing games since a service came out from SEGA called HEAT.net back in the mid 90s. I have participated in to many to list, both open and closed. What has disapointed me is that it appears that DICE has opted to not bother to actually Beta test BF:BC. They are going the marketing route. Even calling it a "beta" makes my blood boil. You CHOOSE beta testers. You choose them carefully to insure you have hit the full range of hardware that the game will be run on. You also choose them to insure that the people who are involved in the beta actually know what they are doing, and aren't just some gamers who don't know the difference between TCP and IP. Then you test, carefully and have those testers fill out feedback in order to check things like texture problems, clipping issues and things like that. Game play glitches are done in Alpha, but a small testing team can only really do so much. You need beta people all over the map to insure that you didn't forget to turn clipping on some minor wall in the far right hand courner of a huge map and that the textures you removed really aren't visible by the players.

This has honestly made me reconsider pre-ordering. I was going to, but now I am very much worried that the game will be plagued with issues that will take five years to fix... again.

uh the beta is great. There doing a great job fixing the issues as they find them too. The beta was reported to only be given to a select number of people. But since I pre ordered through steam I was instantly given the chance to take part. I got home from work at 2 pm after working since 5 am. Typically I'm exhausted at this point but today I installed the beta and hopped into the action. I ended up playing for straight 5 hours and had a blast. Sure there was lag issues here and there but they fixed most of them. Game is great... sucks theres no prone but you learn to deal with it. Found a few bugs like falling through stairs in a house but that was all.

Overall I think Dice is doing a great job on this beta release.

Honestly, the beta is going better than expected. Part of beta testing is releasing the hordes onto your program and letting them wail on it until something breaks.

This game is going to be badass
