    Vehicle Warfare

    I played my first Vehicle Warfare map last night.

    It was my very first time even getting in a tank so finding the door was an adventure in and of itself.

    I have to say I did not like the idea behind the game. I understand they assets need to be protected but deaths WILL happen and right now the respawn time on the tanks is so long 80% of the team ended up on foot standing around waiting for tanks to respawn.

    Once my tank went down I started making my way to the flag on foot so that I could be doing SOMETHING other than standing around in the base with 18-20 other stranded people in our base. However since the map is SO big and the flags so spread out it took forever to walk there due to the fact there isn't any transportation on the map other than the tanks.

    It sounded like the other team had issues with the people on foot FTKing the few people that still had tanks. , so they could not leave their base and the few tanks we had left were searching a HUGE city looking for them. I don't think ANYONE had fun on that map last night. It ended like 150-120 I assume either a vote passed or an admin listened to the complaints and manually moved on to the next map. (if that is the case thank you to who ever did it)

    Is there good way to discuss either increasing the spawn time of the tanks or simply removing that from the map rotation? I think making people wait 60 to 120 sec for a tank would still give the other team an advantage for taking it out. What is the respawn on them currently 10 min? 15? I never saw one respawn before the map changed.

    I honestly think you aren't supposed to have a full team with vehicle warfare mode so that you can have 'spare' tanks back at the base for when the inevitable happens.

    Really I wouldnt mind being an officer on foot and calling out positions of enemy tanks and marking them, but that is me and not everyone likes to do that.

    Best place to add suggestions would be in the www.realitymod.com forums since that is where the devs listen. I think the suggestion forum is closed till they know everyone has played a bit since folks like to complain there prematurely.

    I would like to see Command and Control mode played some as well since it has no flags and is completely dependent on defending your FoBs.

    When the tank died, I tried to get another kit but none were available other than crewman. The white flag in the middle appeared to be uncappable so I think the single object is to destroy more of them, than they do of you.

    I didn't enjoy it either but if ever in that map again, I won't be in such a hurry to get into the battle.

    The only kits you can get in vehicle warfare are officer, crewman and for some reason pilot.

    Were the squads fairly organized? That could attribute to substantial losses too.

    Vehicle warfare may yet prove exciting and useful during the prime... if what I hear here is accurate.

    While priming I can see how vehicle warfare would be fun, but during a full match it's horrid. After a while me and my squad jut hoofed it to the flag...only to find out we can't cap the flag.

    Maybe it was just that map? Might be able to cap flags in the other VWM maps.

    When spawning on Muttrah vehicle map I do not believe the Officer kit was an option. I did not attempt to get one at the crates, but I would guess it wasn't an option there either.

    I can safely say at this point that the vehicle maps are not my favorite ... however, it was the first time I played one so ...

    As for capping, we did cap the flag closest to our main and didn't ever move on the second flag to cap. I assumed the enemy was concentrating or moving to that position so we flanked and went hunting for enemy. Being up by a flag and killing enemy I figured was a decent strategy for success.

    I can't see Muttrah being a great all vehicle map. I'd like to see what one of the larger maps might have to offer in this regard. Of course, if one team starts out poorly the map is done as everyone will roll in to pound the enemy main.

    Suppose we ought to use it as a primer more than an actual game play map?
    Anywho, I've read up on the forums during school (Shame on me) and read that the dev's are going to change the respawn time to 5 minutes, and that foot troops are going to be basically useless in flag capping. It requires six people to capture a flag as well.
    Or rather either two or three tanks. Fully operated or two thirds operated

    We played Muttrah last night and the tanks did respawn, but everyone on both teams engaged and lost their tanks so fast that they bitched enough that the map was changed.... just as the respawns started.

    I think it has promise, but I think larger maps would be better since it gives a more realistic feel to wide open tank warfare on a grand scale.
