02-13-10, 11:04 PM #1First night impressions
So I actually took a break from my school work today since I've been feeling drained to try out the beta as I was actually surprised I got it (registered for it awhile ago on EA I believe).
I must say, I am pretty pleased with the game. The vehicles are annoying but that is probably because I mostly played Medic. I've already got my "max" Medic unlocks it seems since the next unlock is something like 1million points or something. I love medic though. Simply but being a near dedicated reviver & healer, I made it to top of the scoreboard for the server several times. Me and my squad were also kicking ass even without VoIP really working. One round I must have gotten something close to 30 pins & all and I think it was 5k points. Not bad for my first night I'd say. I know others have gotten 30k though...
The map size seems to be good for this Rush game mode. Not too far to run it if need be. Although it is also not often I have to spawn in the back since I can spawn on any of my squad mates, which I love.
Just need to try out the other classes now to see how I like them, but Medic is great for helping the team to stay alive and their guys are actually pretty damn awesome.
I initially had some problems getting into the game with my video card. Found out though my brother had a extra one that was better so he let me have it and it works. All settings are on low, same with the resolution, but I noticed almost no lag the entire night. :9
Now if I could just find more people from TTP to play with. I tried adding a few to my Friends list but either it still isn't working right or they haven't accepted it yet. Guess I'll try to see if I can find people on Xfire or just use the thread we already have to try to hook up with everyone.
Look forward to playing with everyone & this might be tempting enough to make me actually preorder the game.

It is easy to achieve those scores though being a dedicated medic whore and throwing down your med pack in a group of teammates always needing health & always reviving your teammates, most importantly your squad mates since you get more for reviving/healing them.
I'll add you later this week. Tuesdays & Thursdays are my long days so I usually don't get on much.
And Dusty, it is quite fun. I've heard the Friends app in game though is still a bit buggy but I'll add you if I can.
Soldier is Keiron.
Xfire is Keiron03.

Yes the Friends list in game is not working for me at all.....niether is the favorite server list......or voip. Everything else is almost butter for me though. I am a medic whore in 2142 as well it should transfer over to this game.
That is one thing I like about this game, each role tends to blend into another, yet they keep them separate nicely. I have not problem running Engineer and then switching to Medic, and then seeing a need for changing to Recon. All the roles seem to be equipped nicely so far.
That's one thing I did not like about 2142,...each role seemed excessively individualized. You either really enjoyed Medic, or Assault, or....in BC2 each role feels active and part of the whole battlefield for me, even while sitting back sniping, you feel like you are part of the front lines utilizing Mortar strikes and soon laser guided missiles.
Scores are not everything here as it feels to me, because of the almost forced teamplay aspect,.....at least with the first beta map. This game has great potential to be an excellent Teamplayer game, yet I still feel as if a commander type roll is missing, to guide the troops to an objective.

I've tried adding people to my Friend's List & either only Dex got the request or the other requests didn't take for whatever reason. I usually see him as offline but I think he might actually be offline so I can't really say how well it works other than that.
My Favorites list seems to be working fine for now though.

Well I finally got 2 people on my Friend's List and was able to join Potemkine in game with it. It said it was full but I tried anyways and still got in. *shrugs*
Had some fun tonight even though for the first part of the night I was facing a bunch of [IRON] guys and my team was getting pwned. Then my game crashed for now apparent reason.
Ended up going to one of the other servers though this time playing with some TTPers instead of against. Had a blast too. Finally got all the unlocks besides the tracer dart at Rank 11 (almost there) just haven't had a chance to test the Thompson yet.
Still can't wait for VoIP to actually work. :3
