Things i despise the most about BF2142
Over the last week i played 2142 a bit more and boy did some things really bring my piss to a boil. So to prevent myself from chewing through my pc wiring from anger, i decided to compile a list of the things that i hate most.
#1 PR rockets
WTF, i mean really, its like the newbtoob from COD but it actually requires less skill to use (as if thats possible)
I can be safely behind a wall or a rock of sorts and the explosion will just go through it. I mean theres no hiding from the rocket, it will find and kill you.
#2 Airship whores
I mean the airship is overpowered, its like the jet from bf2 but with less skill, u can just hover in place while your gunner mows all the infantry down, and then quickly zip away when u start receiving AA fire, and then come back and blow the shit out of them.
#3 PPL who call for medic and then run away from you
Boy do i encounter this a lot. I can be happily healing teammates and shooting some guys and then someone with 1/4th health calls out for a medic. Being the good person that i am i start making my way to them to try and heal them, but then they just start running away at full sprint as if im some kind of monster, while still calling for medic. Its like WTF ARE YOU DOING, the medic is right here, trying to heal you.
#4 The clark shotgun
This thing is just plain annoying, at close ranges it makes sense, i mean shotty= cqc, but them some ppl start using it from medium ranges and somehow 3 hitting you. REALLY WTF, its a shotty not some fucking assault rifle, who in their fucking right mind though this would be a good idea? Il tell you fucking who, EA and Satin, combined into some super unholy video game producing monstrosity, whose sole goal is to torture gamers with bad gameplay designs.
#5 Teammates who run into your nades
So there could be this large gathering of enemies in a small space, you might get the idea to throw a nade into there. Then some retarded teammate might have the idea to chase the fucking nade, get killed by it and punish you for the tk. ITS LIKE WTF YOU RAN INTO MY NADE, YOU SHOULD BE APPOLOGISING TO ME FOR THE HASSLE YOU CAUSED ME FOR HAVING TO LOSE SOME POINTS.
**EDIT minor grammar and spelling mistakes**

1. As a rocket n00b myself, I can tell you that I smile a little bit whenever I pick off the easy kills from people thinking they are safe behind that wall or that rock. I know there are other rocket n00bs out there too though, so I'm usually pretty conscious about hiding behind thing or standing at the edge of a building for too long.
2. The few truly good pilots out there are an absolute terror. The rest you can get them if you're actively trying to take them out with AA, SAAW, own gunship, or pilum their ass as they hover. At least its not like BF2 where most times its hard to do anything without fear of the airpower coming to smite you.
3. YES! That pisses me off all the time. And when you die with a bunch of medics around you who don't revive.
4. Sadly, the shotgun used to work more how you described it should. I always thought it was powerful then, but for some reason EA/DICE thought it needed a boost in one of the patches. They tightened the accuracy a bit and now its the weapon the kills me most often in conquest mode.
5. This used to piss me off to no end. That and the people who will move right into your line of fire while you're shooting and still punish you for the TK.

Re: Things i despise the most about BF2142
#1 There are many time I see someone using them that does not understand how to set the detonation range and fails to use them properly. To avoid rockets just don't sit RIGHT behind cover, instead sit 5 feet back. Also I have a rule of thumb 'where there is one rocket there are 3 more'.
#2 (what raven said)
#3 yes, totally annoying, if they keep running I will just throw the box as far forward as I can and hope they figure it out.
#4 It is annoying but in my opinion not broken. Most people have trouble hitting a strafing target with it.
#5 I charge into close range a lot and get TKed by nades once in a while. I rarely see the nade being thrown when I do and I never punish those TKs. 99% of the time when I get TKed my immediate response is forgive.

1. Rockets do require skill, they have two methods of function, direct hit or air burst. Direct hit: Aim directly at target and fire. This works for hard targets like FAV's. Air Burst: Aim at target and increase or decrease target range a click or two; with mouse wheel; and rocket explodes over target like a grenade. I would argue the range of effect is a bit much, but otherwise, it's a very effective tool.
2. Airships and their pilots are both specialized. Airships have a limited role as air support. They rarely are used to truly support ground troops. And their pilots are usually not very good ground pounders. I am a grunt, and cannot fly at all. But, we grunts have anti-air assets. Learn to use them, and the gunship whores will stay clear of you.
3. Hit your Page Up button! it let's everyone know where you are as a medic or support. That little "right-o" response can't be heard, even if the player does understand english. Other than that, just drop boxes randomly anyway. You get points easliy from it.
4. Only EA or SATAN (satin is a cloth) could devise such an over-powered weapon. I agree, too long ranged, and much too accurate at range. Up close, your toast.
5. If only there was some sort of universal understanding about grenades. They do not discriminate, they eliminate! And if your grenades are made of the same stuff as mine, they bounce like balloons in random directions.
But, TK punishing for a grenade kill in a heavy firefight is just plain childish and ignorant. It's a different story if it's obvious the TK was intentional, but in the thick of things going on it's damned hard to prevent an accidental rubber grenade from hitting friendlies.
And I believe; just my opinion; that most reg's here understand that, and will let it slide. It's the "visitors" that are used to the idiotic servers they normally play on that don't get it.

If you even suspect someone's gunning for you, find a different spot, because rockets will find you just about anywhere.
Keep in mind, however. Rockets have a minimum detonation range of 20 meters, so if it's fairly close and you know the enemy player is switching to rockets you can risk it by rushing close to him. This also works for grenades as well, as grenades take a while to throw compared to other games. Granted, rushing doesn't work if the player in question has teammates around him, but then again so should you.
2142 takes some getting used to, sometimes you have to take it slow, other times you don't have time to weigh your options. Keep at it, you'll get it down pat, and rockets wont seem so frustrating to play against.

The Pilum will not, but it's unguided.
If you can't kill the gunship, just keep in cover. Use the enemy gunner's line of sight against him, because while it might feel that being in the air will give you a great view, it can get difficult when enemy soldiers blend into the background, and your pilot has to move quickly to avoid AA fire.

Consider this, most players who use the shotgun will have an infantry sonar close by, as it's in the same unlock tree. So you need to do several things if you know there are close-support players. Either stay in the safe zone of your own team's infantry sonars, or be very wary of corners and other ambush spots. Move with your squad, ask for spot checking from the commander. Any number of things can stop close-support players with the Clark dead in their tracks.
So far the only reason I see about the Clark hate, is that players can't adapt to dealing with close range specialists... in close range. Care to enlighten me? Someone?

If you get punished, you're not getting those points back, get the fuck over it.
Even so. Keep playing, once you're more situated, once you know the maps. You'll have a blast, no doubt.
