03-20-10, 11:16 AM #1Points after death DO NOT COUNT!
From here: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/b...ter-death.html
Here's an answer to the question from the podcast Thursday night:
VOIP after death.
We found occurrences of people running into enemy areas, dying intentionally and using VOIP to notify their team of where the enemy was located. As a result we turned this off in game. It is still possible to do this using external VOIP (or even other real world communcation systems). In this game, Dead Men cant talk.
Points after death.
We intentionally removed "the suicide bomber". Loading vehicles with C4 and driving them into packed enemy locations to gain points when you die was something we looked at for some time. The whole human controlled guided missile system could be used to great effect, especially when bringing in air vehicles, C4 and destruction. Therefore we removed the points gained by this type of "misadventure" - it includes a "look what you could have won" points tally. We realise people who die bravely fighting to the end also suffer a points loss at this point but it is difficult to separate the two in the current system.

It should only happen if you commit suicide. If there is a "You committed Suicide" message, then the points don't count. That cannot be that fucking hard. But no, if you die at all you lose the points. So now camping and sniping is going to be even more ravenous.
Fucking BRILLIANT EA/DICE. Just fucking DANDY. :5

My response to the thread:
I can understand wanting to do away with jiihaaders, but taking points away from someone when they die for legitimate reasons is bogus. You know when someone is killed by their own fire, in fact you get the "You committed suicide" message. Take away points after a suicide, but don't penalize people who toss a grenade and then get headshotted by a sniper before it detonates.
I don't really hate not being able to talk/chat while dead. It leads to fair game play, and is a boon for competitive gaming. I just want reliable VOIP so I don't have to rely on TeamSpeak or Ventrilo to coordinate with my own squad mates and a 'team chat' channel where squads can cross-talk would be awesome.

People laying mines around an empty tank and he always falls for it? Sounds like a personal problem to me but a valid tactic. They should not be making "fixes" to the game when they suck at their own creation. Because honestly, right now, that is what it sounds like they are doing after reading part of that thread.
