well considering that I can't get in game often enough to stay near the top in terms of points - I'll content myself with staying near the top with the weapons I like.

You beat me to it, I was just going to ask how the ranks are calculated myself. I'll be the first to admint that my numbers aren't as good as they could be but nonetheless my rank seems low. If you just look at the sheer number of kills I have compared to the number of kills of the players around my current rank, well, it seems off. (Not to mention how many Squad points, Medic points and revives I tally up in a given round) Also, in game, I've been getting a lot of Ace and Gold Squad Pins lately which would indicate to me that my rank should be higher than it is. The only thing I can think of is that a players skill score is calculated into the equation somehow and that, maybe, team kills have a strong negative effect on rank. This would make sense to me as my skill rating is a bit low, I think, due to the fact that I push to hard and don't really pay attention to my avg. life span and K/D ratio. (Not to mention a round the other day where I had a slew of ugly tk's, e.g., people bailing out of the chopper while I was flying, enemies detonating my C4 with friendlies near the MCOMM, a squad mate crawling in front of me as I took a sniper shot etc...)
