Hello BF2 regulars!
I finally payed the arm-and-a-leg price of $10 for BF2 and hope to play with some excellent teamplayers. I played for the first time on the TPG BF2 server last night (well, maybe very early this morning) and didn't recognize anybody, but I guess the time could be to blame. Anyway, just posting here to say I might need help with something in-game and to not get too angry if I mess up the orders or get a teammate killed.
I used to play Battlefield 1942, so I'm not a total noob, just don't know which guns/kits are best, anything about squad leading, or anything about the maps (except Wake Island ).
Hope to see you on the battlefield soon!We can do better.

Re: Hello BF2 regulars!
Naw, that still makes you a total noob.
Until you find your own style. MEDIC is probably the best kit for most maps. ANTI-TANK on big Armor maps like Smoke Screen, Tampa, Zatar.
Until you actually learn the weapons, you're going to get your ass handed to you ... a lot! After all, you're going against players with 5 years of experience.
Apologize for TK's and don't take matters into your own hands if you get TK'ed - call for an Admin if you think it's egregious.
Oh ... and Welcome!

I love newcomers to the game! Gives me hope that I'll still have someone to play with 5 years from now.
Joining a squad and spawning green will be the best thing you can do. Like Tmh said, Medic will probably be the best kit to start off with, but try your hand at all of them. Anti-tank is the other obvious choice.
Welcome.

Don't listen to a word these slod-jockeys are letting loose from their gaverty-sumps. The kit for you is Support.
If you can learn to fight and kill with the Support LMGs, then you will have no trouble with any of the other weapons. Add in body armor to keep you more(ish) alive, infinite ammo and grenades on tap, and tons of points to earn by throwing ammo boxes (ammo boxes collect instantly on touch (even in the air), and always give you a point no matter how much or how little ammo is replenished; medic boxes take 2 seconds on the ground to "plant" and become usable, and they only give you a point if you heal more than 50% of a soldier's HP), and you have the perfect noob kit.
Everyone thinks "hurr durr Medic and AT only", but they only think that until they're out of rockets and nades (which for some people is about 30 seconds after spawning). Then they'll wish they had a competent Support tagging along.

Hi MadMax (grape) - Welcome to the most teamplay-oriented and skilled (imho) BF2 server on this side of the net -- we play punkbustered, ranked, unlocked, full vehicles, FF-on, squads required, no-uncap-rule, no-jet-queue BF2 with full official map rotation, just like the way EA intended!
Off the top of my head, iamjohnnyrico, visuvius, GrandMasterGuess, (4)manno, dex71, h7g6f5, deathgodusmc, cougar38, reject-wolf, and Mr_Harry_Pelotas* are great to squad with (when they're not flying), provided you can load the map quickly enough before their respective squads fill up. Otherwise find any other non-airwhore from {HRD}, [IRON], [SsT], =PHX=, or =F=*. You might even catch 11Bravo if you're lucky on the nights he has nobody to play PR with...
Shoot ya on the the server!
*the order I have listed them in no way reflects my personal preferences

Re: Hello BF2 regulars!
Welcome Madmax(Grape), to the forums and the best gaming community out there. Now that we got that took care of moving on to the next order of business. Don't spawn in as Support,AT,Eng, Sniper, Medic, spawn in as spec. and get your self into a chopper or jet. For several reason. First of all they are they hardest kit to learn. Secondly, you will need to learn how to fly before you can walk the walk. Thirdly, it makes you a better target for us ground pounders to shoot you down with an AT kit and laugh in your face. Ummm.... I know I'm missing something some one will have to remind me. Damit, I know I'm missing something! OK, forget that moving on just a heads up be very carefully when you go to the IRON clan site. Make sure to have glasses on because some of the stuff you see there may/will cause you to go blind.O, more thing stay away from XAVSNIPE!!!!!
Respectfully,
