DC even had user controlled Patriot missile batteries FFS. I could go on and on and on about DC.

I'll tell you what, if you ever do play it...play Wake Island. I guarantee you'll see a HUGE difference between that version and the crappy one we have now. I really miss launching the Tomahawks off the carrier while someone else steers the carrier lol.

If you want to play a BF2 mod that really requires skill and teamplay...all I can say is...Forgotten Hope 2. I respect what the guys in PR have done but FH2 just dominates. The sheer amount of detail put into FH2 is staggering. In fact, if TPG went to FH2, you could possibly have 2 full servers every night as there is no dominant American FH2 server. Most of us yanks are forced to play on Euro servers. Even though FH2 is all WWII, it's still the closest to DC that any BF2 mod can ever come to. The content is staggering and the visuals are jaw dropping. I urge everyone to give these mods and honest shot because you really have no idea what you're missing out on. I played DC, BFV and BF2 in CAL, even was a CAL admin...rose to the top of the ladder in TWL, etc. I've competed at the top and have been beaten by the very best (hi 20ID and Team HOT!!!! LOL). I would say that BF2 was a cool platform for other people to develop on...namely, PR and FH2. Other than that, most pubbies of this generation really don't know, or probably even care, what they are missing and it's a shame because the game is better than this vanilla junk lol.

We tried bringing up an Arma2 (which has everything you speak of, with the different mods and Operation Arrowhead expansion that just came out) server before, with no success. Technical skill/realism/etc. isn't necessarily correlated with teamplay.

If you wanted teamplay, you should have played in CAL.

I'm not up for it...... BF2 thrives on unlocks and ranks... If you get rid of something thats helping the server then this server will end up like the other 100's out there that is left for dead...... I wouldn't follow Jawz advice he can find another server and kill that one.... Lets not get rid of something that helps the server and besides some of us would like to make new stats and rank up again.... I've yet to unlock some of my weapons still....

You're advocating for the one thing that brought down the whole franchise. Unlocks and ranks are for little kids...and why in the holy blue Christing hell would you want to play on a server that openly advocates teamplay and out yourself as some sort of...gulp...statwhore? Who gives a fuck about your unlocks. You don't matter...the team does. I played in CAL for 6 years and we NEVER had ANY unlocks or ranks because it's all bullshit. With no unlocks, everyone is competing on the same level. This is where skill comes into play.

Unlocks and ranks have absolutely fuck all to do with teamplay.
