Can't Login??

I have a new problem.

I start the game, select my soldier, and my computer locks up while connecting to the master server.

Anyone got a solution? I saw someone said to alt-tab out of task manager, but that does not work for me.

It just started last week and does it every time.

I am having this same issue.

I first noticed it on friday.

It happened to me as well on Friday.....very long delay in "loading" soldier. Master Server would just hang there for probably greater than 5 minutes. It looks and feels like the PC is locked up (and I actually thought it was and hard reset it the first time Friday night). Then tried connecting again and got the same long delay on the Master Server. After probably 7 minutes or so (I'll try and time it next time) it let me in and things were normal (until a PB kick). Which caused me to reinstall/update PB and have to go through the Master Server wait for a third time.

After that though it was fine.

I am glad that it is not just me- was fearing possibly PC issues.

Allane mentioned to me he had this to, though I'm not sure if this was a different time than this one.

He said that waiting for a while worked for him.

I suspect it has to do with the server maintenance done last week by EA/GameSpy. The 'fix' supposedly is to Alt-Tab out and back and 2142 starts responding again.

well - that'd work if I could alt tab out hehe. When it happens the 2142 client (and machine) are totally locked up as far as I can tell

you can always try just doing the 3 finger salute (alt+ctrl+dlt) to bring up task manager while in game then kill the 2142 process. I was noticing the "hang" as well this weekend but letting it sit a few minutes would let me in.

I had the same problem. As the quote above states, I waited a while (around 10-20 minutes) and it worked again.

that wasn't working either - like I said machine appeared to be "hard locked" or frozen until the master server reconnected or finished doing whatever it was doing. After than stuff worked fine. Alt+tab, etc etc.
