Thread: TPG Viet Nam Server?

Get the server. My reservist powers are constantly being used to get on. The server is quite full most of the time and many people have been saying thanks for running such a great server. Get Nam going and we will have two irons in the fire and I don't think that will be a problem in the short term and maybe not the long one either.

I still feel we need to give it some more time and see what happens with the other servers.

But see? Why? Civil makes a good point, even if it is a "fad" if it brings 1 or 2 new registered team players to the site and our other games they may play, then it was worth it. Who cares if it dies out, we just shut it down. If TPG wants to be everywhere, then be everywhere. Hell, we have had a DOD server for years, but we all know the kind of ghost town it is, but I'm willing to be there is atleast 1 TPGer here from the site that found us cuz they played DOD....

I heard it's another mal-adapted game though,...no punji, clays, other Vietnam weapons of war..kinda makes it just plain ole'.."ported game"

However, I'm always one to agree with the "build it they will come". Even if it's just for a short time, look at what COD4 did, it brought over several folks that now play our other games. If someone finds us through BC2:V, joins the forums...says holy shit!...look at what else is here, buys more games, tells friends that may play other games..WHY!?/....Why the hell not if we've got the resources. Now if $$$ is an issue, i digress.

I mean..we're already missing out I think on COD:BO...Brink is coming soon as well as a few others. We need the population, new blood, means new/more visitors, means different IP's accessing the pages, meaning more $$ from Ads.

We hear what you're saying... Plain and simple, the hard numbers (the number of servers vs number of players) don't justify the money expenditure. The game only has 5 maps, and no indication from DICE that any more are coming. I'd love to have one, but if the numbers don't justify, it's a hard sell. The only reason we've hosted niche games (like Alien Swarm) was because we could throw up an instance on our dedicated server box. We don't have a dedicated EA Ranked box anymore, so we can't just throw up a server for the heck of it, and we can't run a BC2 instance on our other servers.

I know there's guys like CRX that would not be here now if we hadn't hosted BF2:SF, even for as short a time as we hosted it.. so Civil's logic about Viet Nam stands to reason
