2011!Last horrah of Battlefield 2?!?

Im guessing with the release bf3, another year aged and more competition battlefield 2 will be dead by 2011 ;-(
Lets enjoy battlefield 2 while we still have a large enough population.

Now Im going to give a crazy suggestion.I think we should hold a locked-server event sometime before bf3 is released.OR a couple doesn't matter, post the password up on the site and spread word on the server.Sorta like a match mode but on a larger scale, sorta like a final horrah for battlefield 2 before it becomes a ghost town.I know it sounds crazy but I think it will be fun, a server full of TPG regulars, no randies rolling around with a sniper or assault kit.

Even if we don't do that lets make 2011 a year to remember for all TPG regulars.

I thought the same thing when BC2 was just about to be released.

But bfbc2 was a sequel to bc1, and bf3 is a sequel to bf2, so I'm sure it will be a much bigger blow.
Not to mention more competing fpss coming next year.
-Red Orchestra two(awesome looking game)
-Home front-(team that made dc and helped on bf2
-2 Call of Dootys and many more fps are coming out in 2011.
Not to mention bc2 did take a hell of a lot of PC sales and battlefield 2 will be 6 years old, its aging and starting to die its sad but its already happening.

We've all heard the world is coming to an end before...
Until EA or who ever can come up with a game that is par for the course of BF2.... We will all still be here. The game will be reinstalled on computers because along with the game play, the socialiization keeps us coming back.
Part of the fun of playing BF2 is the personalities involved with the game.

RO 2 looks like the new battlefield
commanders,squads,1st person cover,gun handling,destruction,tanks,awesome sniping and more.The only thing missing is flying, but it may be possible with mod tools
Not to mention Battlefield 3 is comming, I think bf2 will be dead by the the start if 2012, except for the mods like fh2 or pr.But this is just my guess of whats going to happen, but just because bf2 can survive bfbc2 doesn't mean it will last past bf3

Exactly. I might be a complete stanger since I can't really say anything intelligible in your language (and thus decided to simply not talk), but damn I love the community on this server.

I'm pretty sure BF3 won't reach our expectations (Some of the developers clearly stated that they don't consider the pc version of BC2 like a simple console port. To me, it shows how much effort they are willing to put). Still, I bet it's going to sell better than any battlefield game before.

I think we would be lucky if this game even has a proper squad leading system or a maximum player count of 40.

I think it will depend on how good BF3 is, if it isn't all that, there should still be a dedicated core of BF2 fans out there that keeps it ticking. I know AA2 is still fairly popular with AA clans etc. due to how bad the sequel was. Now the BF3 sequel won't be that screwed up, but still a disappointing product could keep BF2 going.

If BF3 is a great game, it will certainly knock BF2 wayyy down, but i don't think it will completely die, maybe more of a bit better player base then DoD though (which isn't horrible, but is fairly low).

RO 2 seems like it will be great, but it will need to survive first to mount any challenge (RO 1 was quite good, but the population died out pretty quickly from what I've heard).

RO2 looks interesting but I do not like "1 Life" games. Even with their "Stage - Countdown Timer" scenario, ppl will get bored waiting up to 5 minutes to respawn. There's only so much fap'ing you can do while waiting, even for me!

BF2 remains popular despite it's sucessors like BF2142 and BFBC2. BF2 will probably take a big dive though when EA turns off the BFHQ server.

Yeah, BF3 is *still* coming. The beta 'invites' won't be going out until OCTOBER! Wanna bet they don't get bumped into 2012?!

My understanding is that BF3 is going to be more like BFBC2 than BF2. If so, I doubt I'll be a big fan, especially if it's 24-player max. Those of us who enjoy the "community" probably won't enjoy it.
