    Battlefield Not recession proof....

Well as the developers might have possibly announced they claim it will only support win7 and high performance computers...

I'm afraid there min requirements could eliminate about 1/4 up to 1/2 of the Battlefield dedicated PC gamers...

it would cost gamers nearly up to $2000 just to actually run the game with all settings up on very high...

DICE doesn't see the big picture on how many gamers could be affected by this... some in a negitive fashion...

Let me remind you guys the situation world is in right now... A recession... sure we are getting out of it but there's alot out there that's affecting gamers wallets.. Not everyone can go out and upgrade every year just to play a game... This is why PC gaming is actually dying and consoles are leading.. Consoles are already made and is not as expensive it is also built to run very high detail games like bf BC 2 and the soon to be released BF3.

BF3 might have jumped on the win 7 ship way way too soon. Blizzard knew that alot of gamers didn't have as great of computers right now and thats why they focused on the goal of making games compatible for alot gamer rigs and not just one high detail rig.. Starcraft 2 is one of the best selling games out there and they focused on all the gamers and not just one small group..

Also you got another destructible shooter called crysis 2... Crytek also focused all all gamers and made it possible to run all games...

I might be QQ and judging too soon but when I hear stuff like only able to run on Win 7 let me remind you.... when games go on only one OS system the PC population of the game will suffer dearly...

I'm planning on upgrading to Win7 later this year or possibly 2012, but you're definitely right that it could cause major problems for BF3 on the PC. And then the lower sales will just be more fodder for the "PC gaming is dead, it's impossible to make profits on it" bullshit.

    Re: Battlefield Not recession proof....

I doubt it because the fact is alot of people need a good pc to run Win 7 sure Win 7 is a little lighter load than vista but its still got alot of stuff to get it running perfectly... Also Win 7 is a fairly new os still which has some bugs to fix... XP is a reliable os yes more people are moving over to win 7 but when you look at the price of win 7 people just can't afford that...

Windows still give support to XP but not as much with a direct x 9 stand point....

But also you got to think this Crysis 2 and possibly RAGE has and or possibly willl make xp compatible... DICE just wants to flex frostbytes muscles way to much..... But I might be speaking too soon because they did claim it will be on PS3 and 360 which isn't strong but runs like a champ... But what dice says is probly going to hurt more than succeed

Just because it costs as much as 2 grand to run this game on super max doesn't mean people are going to be spending that kind of money. They will settle for low or medium settings. No one says you have to put it to super max ultra settings.

How many gamers do you really think are still using XP? I mean seriously. And please, put up a link to any kind of evidence you claim.

    People have moved on.

This game will fail for many reasons, but the decision to not support XP will have nothing to do with it.

    Re: Battlefield Not recession proof....

You do realize it is DirectX 9 that isn't being supported, right? That means that INHERENTLY XP cannot be supported because it never had any kind of DirectX 10 release, only Vista and above do. You know what that means? Vista will be supported.

And I'm sorry, but there are gaming computer builds out there that cost under $500 and can run Win 7 perfectly and play most games out there on pretty decent settings. I mean, goddamn, there are computers at BestBuy that can run crysis on high settings that are under $1000

Stop preaching the world is ending when it isn't. Microsoft doesn't even support XP SP3 for free anymore (you have to get a contract, and it will only last till 2014), and SP1 and SP2 stopped getting support long ago.

Most computers out there after 2007 can run Win7 just fine anyways.
