This isn't a server we can just create without cost, like the source servers. These ranked instances have to be purchased, per server. The new one is $40 a month from gameservers.com.

Where are the loud proponents of this server now? Where are the 18 saying they would "prime and play"?

it was at full earlier tonight till a mass disconnect by people never recoverd from that not bad for a monday i'd think its group is improving slowly but improving

At this moment I can only play on weekends but when I was on on Saturday, the vanilla server had more players than hardcore. It needs some time.

The man upstairs is concerned (and frankly so am I). These servers aren't like the Source servers where we can bring stuff up at will. They cost us cold hard cash every month. The goal of the vanilla server was two-fold. First, to test viability of vanilla since there was such a public outcry. Second, to test the viability of a new game server provider, since we've had spotty reliability out of Hypernia recently. If we aren't packing vanilla full every night, we're not achieving our second goal which is to evaluate this as a possible new game server provider. If we don't start seeing numbers in vanilla more reliably, we're going to have to make it hardcore since hardcore doesn't seem to have the issues of sustaining population during prime gaming hours.

All the vanilla supporters have to put up, or shut up at this point, because the server won't last long at the rate it's going.

all of the above excuses would make sense, if the HC server wasn't at 100% capacity with the new server being at 0.

when that is happening, quite OBVIOUSLY, we are having people forget the needs of the community and instead just want to jump in and play. If you want the server to survive, if you want the BC2 community at TPG to be healthy, and expand, then you have to earn it by priming, and making the hard choice to join the LESS POPULATED SERVER FIRST.

The CSS, DoD, TF2, BF2, and 2142 communities all learned this. And, many of them saw their second servers die ONLY BECAUSE of their selfishness and unwillingness to put in the priming time.

Excuses are pointless. If one can fill up, then both can be populated. If both are populated, they will both fill up. Stop being fair weather fans, which everyone has a temptation to be, and play on the server that NEEDS YOU.
