Re: Frag Video
Focus... or better yet, lack of distractions. I used to be able to reflex a lot better than I can now. I think this is mainly because of a lack of focus or abundance of distractions.
The more "stuff" going on in life (i.e. work, school etc.) the more things occupy your thinking and distract you a bit. Sometimes you don't even notice the distraction tbh.
It's hard to explain, but for me, I can tell my aim is dead on, or rather the instinct / reflex is. Not being really focused in the moment, though, I compensate or over compensate and a lot of time miss the shot rather than just rolling with it. It's almost about not thinking, being in the moment and following your hands kinda thing..“We have discovered that the scheme of 'outlawing war' has made war more like an outlaw without making it less frequent and that to banish the knight does not alleviate the suffering of the peasant”

Re: Frag Video
There is no way that he could pull that off on our server or even hardmode. He is also playing with a bunch of noobs. It looks more impressive then it really is because its being played faster then normal time. I would bet that he has a dot on his monitor that he uses to aim his sniper rifle with when hes unscoped. If he came to TPG there would be no way he would survive half the things he did and there arnt a whole lot of terrible people playing TPG like the game he was playing.

Re: Frag Video
You know, these random montages of a bunch of five second clips sped up too fast for you to see anything (usually completely cherry-picked footage, too) don't really tell you much besides the fact that the dude got some kills at some point on some server on some map somewhere. There's nothing to learn from things like this because you have absolutely no context.
I have some nice Steam screens of me airshotting some helicopters with an AT4. On one of them, the helicopter was hovering almost completely motionless over a flag and probably could have been taken down with an unguided RPG-7. It took absolutely no finesse at all to shoot that one down, but you probably couldn't pick that screen out next to the others. No context, nothing special.
On a separate issue, I really don't see what is so "skillful" about noscoping with a sniper rifle. We've all done it, and it doesn't mean you're pro or cool or original, it means you got lucky and douched some guy who probably should have killed you by all rights.

Re: Frag Video
Its hard to tell with the gameplay sped up like that. But it looks like he is dragshooting, which is a hard learned skill. Some of those shots are impressive, but yes his opponents are not very good in some of those instances. I'm sure he would do well on TPG, but he wouldn't be god like the video makes him out to be.

Re: Frag Video
I've been calling that twitch shots. I always say to people that to be a good sniper means three things.
Always stay stay moving.
Never snipe from obvious spots like roof tops or windows for more than one kill.
And practice twitch shooting.
I call it twitch shooting because i don't even notice myself controlling my hand into the shot. It's my muscle memory taking over. I just twitch and shoot and i get the kill.

Re: Frag Video
Oh wow Wicked, that's the exact video that I first saw that introduced me to it, I'm not as good as that yet, but I think I'm kinda average at running and gunning with a Rifle.
EDIT: The part where he talks about the Rifles, he doesn't mention it, but the M95 is terrible for that playstyle for another reason, it takes way longer to bring up the scope.
OT: I found that he was unnecessarily complex in that video and I'm sure most of that was posturing for the camera(360 no-scopes the holy grail of console FPS players). There's no denying that he's a good player and knows his rifles, the range that the OHK is in vanilla and that, but he had too many shot that were just trying to look cool, and the sped-up video that it's hard to judge his skill from just this.Last edited by judedeath; 03-21-11 at 09:29 AM.
