Thread: Second Hardcore BC2 server - Poll

Here's the deal....

<3Shack is willing to donate funds to start a second Hardcore BC2 TPG server with 24 Slots.

We do not want any special treatment, admin, naming or such. We will simply supply the cash and TPG runs it how they wish. Our only requirement would be that it is 24 slots, Hardcore and running on gameservers (Same host as the vanilla)

Why? Well for a few reasons.....

One, the main hardcore server is normally maxed out in primetime. (A good thing)
Two, its our opinion that 24 man servers run much smoother. (less Lag)
Three, RUSH games are much more competitive (fun) at around 10/10 players. (We like RUSH)

Well there you have it.... <3Shack is super impressed in how TPG runs its gaming environment, this is only a suggestion to give players looking for a little less crowded gameplay somewhere to frag.

I'm kinda leaning towards a no right now, doesnt mean you wouldn't be able to change my opinion, the thing is the current population won't support 3 servers, I love the idea of a 24 man HC, hell it *may* work if the 3 servers are all 24 but I don't forsee it... Great to see you loveshackers enjoying the tpg home (we also host clan forums hint hint)... Lets see what the others think I may be in the minority!

While the offer is appreciated, we can afford to pay for whatever servers we host. As for the HC server being full all the time... you have the option of purchasing a reserved slot at $5/month that guarantees you a slot on the server. It goes towards paying for TPG's overhead (game servers, website, etc.)

To further clarify, we don't typically run multiple servers for a game unless we have one server plugged full of admins & reservists. The only reason we have 2 servers right now is twofold. First, we wanted to evaluate a second server host as we were having problems with Hypernia. Second, we had a vocal group who wanted a vanilla server. If things don't sure up on the vanilla side (where are you vanilla lovers?) soon, it will be converted to HC, and the old HC server will be shut down.

I voted no of course... as i still hate HC. But if Vanilla doesn't take off, then i guess i will have to learn to like HC because i wont play anywhere else.

I personally don't care for rush. So that's a Null for me. As for a second HC, I would vote yes if Vanilla Fails. I'll Prime whatever we host.

I personally like the idea. Not the whole <3Shack paying for it thing but a 24 slot server geared toward competitive play. I would love to get back into the professional gameplay scene. Lower pop you really have to work together to get it done.

Both? Noobs meaning not on TS and sniping from our base not pushing. I would rather we switch the Normal to HC 24 man. I am not a big fan of normal. So, I am a bit biased. From what I have noticed, when the HC server is full there is 8-12 people on TS between the 2 teams. When Vanilla is full there might be 6 people between the 2 teams. But, once the HC server is full, I think it runs like shit.

I'm aware of the VIP slots, that's not really the issue, its a great Idea and works well.

The problem I find is that BC2 can barely handle 32 man games. Once the server fills up things start to bog down. The latency difference between the server at 10/10 and 16/16 is remarkable. Add in the inherent issue that the RUSH maps become bottle necked with so many players and you start to have a recipe for frustration.

No big deal... Just wanted to put the offer out there.
