Thread: Is it just me, or do we not seem to have enough good commanders?

Over the past couple days, I've had a grand total of 1 (one) commander that actually talked to the team, gave us orders, or at least did more than drop artillery on every red dot he saw. In fact, about half the games didn't have a commander until the last 5 minutes.

I'm surprised that such a team-oriented server has a lack of commanders. Though, thinking about it now, it may be because TTP is so team-oriented, and no one thinks they are a good commander, so they don't step up.

Is this a common thing in TTP, or has there just been no one willing to take command recently?

Edit: Fixed an embarassing typo, changed name of topic to not sound like I'm trying to be condescending or insulting.

We usually have commanders and they are usually good. But there are always exceptions. Sometimes those exceptions get booted or mutinied. Ya never know.

Maybe I just hit it at a bad time. Later this evening we've had a commander each game, though it's been hit or miss on whether or not they are good commanders or the type that drop artillery on your squad's head right when you start capping a flag.

What I would suggest is to not throw potentially insulting comments into our forums without having played on our servers for several weeks, if not longer. Then perhaps you may have a better understanding of our server dynamic so that in the future we might avoid comments like:

And I really don't mean to be insulting, it just seems that there have been quite a few games with under-par commanders, or none at all. I was simply commenting on a trend I had noticed, and meant nothing more by it. I'm not a very good commander myself, which is why I don't step up to the plate, I'm much better as simply a foot soldier.

Again, I apologize if I offended anyone, or sounded insults or condescending. I just sometimes have problems articulating exactally what I mean.

And I want to make it clear that so far I've had a much better time on this server than any other I've played, actual teamwork is a refreshing and enjoyable change.

I've read it, along with all the other stickies, and it's very well written. I just don't feel I'm up to the task, and would rather leave the spot to someone who would do a better job with it.

i have recently stepped up for commander position just to get use to it and work on my problems with commanding.
