I would say quad core is a realistic minimum....every time I go back to a dual core it gets painful to load up the game (BC2) and get started whereas the quad core moves along quite nicely.

No upgrades planned here till maybe next year or thereafter. So fingers crossed that it'll be playable

I would agree. Quad-core for a min to have a decent frame rate and graphics. Hell, I bet my SPM and KDR went up a few points just because of upgrading my computer.

    Intel core i7 930
    P6T Deluxe v2
    Kingston 3x2 go DDR3
    GTX465

In the alpha, I could run the game on the highest setting at about 25-30 fps.

    Athlon II X4 955
    8GB of DDR3 RAM
    Radeon 5870

I'll likely be upgrading to Bulldozer and possibly adding a second 5870 (at the right price) to my rig sometime in the not too distant future.

    i7 920
    12 g's @1600
    SSD
    2X's 5870

How much more taxing will BF3 be vs. BC on the PC? Party, did you see a frame rate reduction in the alpha vs BC?
