Re: BF2 vs BF3
It's a shame they didn't go the way of PR with the Commander. It looks like a stunning game, but I don't know, from what folks are saying it will simply amount to an uncoordinated fragfest with a party of four. It's like they are sucking the "team" out of the experience. Is that what L4D is like? Even CSS/DoD/TF2 is more entertaining in that regard ... at least the entire team can speak with one another ... (if I still remember correctly ... been a little while for DoD and TF2).
I'll buy it ... eventually, but I'm going to say that I'll likely stick with PR/BF2 and Arma2 with the new rig. The team aspect of the game is what I love most, PR taking it to a higher level. ... we'll see ... I bought CoD, it was fun but the on-line stuff was just ridiculous for me ... tried it once and that was it.
Is there even a Squad leader?
It will be interesting to see how/if TPG can put the "team" back into BF3.Last edited by Amador +JP2+; 10-18-11 at 11:48 PM.

Re: BF2 vs BF3
I agree with pretty much everything GMG said here and in Arkoudaki thread, but I will simply add this :
Map design = fail.
Honnestly, I'm so disapointed that there isn't at least one map similar to, lets say, Darquin Oilfield, when in comes to flag numbers, distance between em, number of transport vehicles per flags, etc.
Now, what we've got? Three small urban maps, 2 rush map ported to conquest with all their flags in a straight line and 4 semi-decent, medium sized open maps.Last edited by chray00; 10-31-11 at 11:06 AM.

Re: BF2 vs BF3
I totally agree.
But I think it will never happen, unless a community will build one by itself.
By the way, it's quite possible. All you need is a Kickstarter project getting some money for buying commercial Frostbite 2 engine, aand a team of enthusiastic developers with straight hands, and passion.

Re: BF2 vs BF3
My thinking was along the same lines.....until I played it (BF3 that is).
Imis'sTS plug-in brings the teamwork. While the game still has some flaws (both in design and execution), it's still a GREAT game. The teamwork is there (on our server anyway)....you just have to take the extra step to hop in TS (looks at GMG). I was one of the biggest doubters....and still have some negative comments....but I'm also playing every chance I get.
And yes....there is a squad leader. And I like what they did with him...spawn-wise. The squadleader can spawn on any friendly flag, or any live squad mate. The squad members can spawn on flags or the sl. This makes it so that it is not imperative to keep the sl alive.....one of the squad members can also get in a safe spot to keep the pressure on, and the point alive. They also have squad beacons (much like 2142) that can be deployed by the snipers....also a handy addition.
I think you would like it. Sure, there is still plenty to bitch about, but there is also plenty to enjoy.
