Ok finally I got everything downloaded and installed. Thanks for the help. Game boots up without problems. My mic boost is greyed out and was trying to get it to take. Tried your advise Grandmaster but I cant find audiosettings.setvoipboostenabled in 0001 and I dont show a 0002. Any other advise for this mic boost? Thanks all for the help

    Start > documents > battlefield 2 > profiles > 0001 > right click audio > open > open with a installed program > notepad > AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 0 > change 0 to 1 > close & save.

Fix to the crashing to the desktop...check your event viewer application logs and see of you are getting the following event
"A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (BF2.exe)"

If so, only fix I have found is to disable the DESKTOP WINDOW MANAGER SESSION MANAGER service.

Well, the above fixed the crashing to the desktop caused by the "A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (BF2.exe)" error in event viewer, but I am still having lots of crashing to the desktop with no errors in the event viewer.
